R. Kelly Moved Into General Prison Population

    R. Kelly was reportedly moved into the general prison population on Tuesday (September 3). The embattled R&B singer had previously been in solitary confinement.

According to TMZ, Kelly’s attorney Steven Greenberg said the singer was only in solitary as a form of punishment because of not only his celebrity but also the “prurient nature” of his alleged crimes.

Greenberg added there will be extra security measures in place to keep Kelly safe due to the more dangerous nature of general population. Now that he’s out of solitary, Kelly will be allowed 10 non-attorney visit instead of just one. He’ll also have more time for phone calls and emails and time outside in the recreation area.

Prosecutors confirmed Kelly was moving to general population in a court filing of their own, explaining he was only in solitary briefly and at his request. In the documents, state prosecutors said Kelly initially wanted in a secluded wing of the prison called the Special Housing Unit with no cellmates.

Kelly was arrested in July while in his hometown of Chicago on charges of racketeering and sex trafficking. Early last month, Kelly was in a New York federal court where he pleaded not guilty.

In Brooklyn and Chicago, Kelly faces a total of 18 counts for alleged crimes against 10 victims. Kelly faces a maximum prison sentence of 195 years in Chicago alone. He faces decades more in New York and was already facing state charges that could imprison him for up to 30 years.

    A judge has denied bail.

    1. I can’t wait for the judge to give this disgusting child rapist a long long time locked up away from young impressionable females.

        1. R Kelly is human and you must cut him some slack . Those girls ran from their homes to leave with him . How come too beautiful girls are fighting for his freedom even when he is in jail. They are now free to leave . So it means no one was captured. They come at their own the ones that are accusing him are just jealous.

        1. This isn’t a race thing. People like you are ruining the world. ‘Racist, racist, racist’… The word has lost all meaning.

    2. He’ll be dealt with. Someone is going to get him and get paid for it. So whatever support he has he better Cherish it because he’s going to go through Hell. Can’t read. How did the Illiterate Idiot sing music? Flashcards?

    3. I love R.Kelly music so to me whatever he has been accused of holds no weight to his music. I just can’t figure out how he is broke. All the good shit he has put out over the years, wow he should be sitting real pretty not broke as a bitch. I heard he as several celebrities helping out putting up money for his defense. Yeah he is accused of some real shady shit but I still love his slow jams. The best album was Born into the 90’so. The joints he did with the Isley’s was decent too. I Can’t Sleep, Contagious and the all the joints that followed one behind the other
I ain’t hating on the brother, he got them two broads out there trying to hussle up money for his defense too. So he can’t be that bad of a dude if he got them two girls that live with him fighting for his freedom too. People are so quick to judge and convict someone ling before a trial. I think that is real messed up but people will be people.

      1. He is broke because he trusted the wrong people and in terms of business isn’t a smart dude. GOAT of RnB but not business savvy from the sounds of things. Being basically illiterate also probably doesn’t help.
