Q-Tip Announces 3 Albums

Q-Tip celebrated his birthday on Friday (April 10) but ended up giving fans a gift of sorts via Instagram. While thanking his followers for the birthday well wishes, the legendary MC/producer unveiled the titles of three albums he’s got in the works.

“Thank u for all the bday love… but I have something to share w u… 3 albums,” he wrote in a video of himself playing guitar.

The Abstract then listed the names of each LP: AlGoRhythms, Riotdiaries and The Last Zulu. He capped off his message by saying, “Thank u God willing I will get with u soon.”

No additional details about the three projects were revealed.

Although many observers will note Q-Tip has been teasing The Last Zulu for years, AlGoRhythms and Riotdiaries represent new developments from the Kennedy Center’s Artistic Director of Hip Hop Culture.

LL Cool J Says He & Q-Tip Are Making An Album For Def Jam

Q-Tip hasn’t released a solo album since 2009’s Kamaal The Abstract. Fans most recently heard from him when A Tribe Called Quest dropped their final album We Got It from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service in 2016.

In addition to his solo work, Q-Tip has been collaborating with LL Cool J. Last December, LL said the two connected for some records that would be released via Def Jam Recordings.

“I just started recording new music produced by my lil bro @QtipTheAbstract,” LL wrote on Twitter. “I’m putting this new music out on @defjam.”

      1. q tips been falling off for many years. His last solo album was crisp.

        Drake already surpasses his height

      1. You mean when Metallica came across Cliff Burton playing the bass and they first thought he was playing guitar and then they realised like dude wtf that’s a bass

    1. Three albums That’s amazing..now if we could replace Q-Tip With anybody..anybody at all who isn’t Q-Tip.
Then Maybe 1 of the (3) Will be playable after listening to everyone else who released albums that Day/Week/Month Year/Decade/Century.
But hey he’s still better than Magoo.
      Right…..

    2. Bruh .. QTip need to chill, man lol .. bad enough we gotta survive this coronavirus, now we gotta put up with this dude threating us with 3 albums lol .. dont no one wanna listen to a damn QTip album .. A Tribe Called Quest was damn near 30 years ago .. give it up …

    3. That last A Tribe album is the most overrated album of the last 10 years. People are just so starved of anything close to decent hip hop they overrated it.

        1. HIp Hop is a time machine man. You can’t just rate an album for greatness….it’s all about how that album was there when you were going through certain things and you played the shit out of it…that’s what makes hip hop so special…not just well-constructed beats and rhymes…..

          1. That’s how I feel about the last Tribe album…I was going through the typical 9 to 5 grind, then I heard the album once and couldn’t stop playin it…I blasted that shit at work everyday lol.

    4. Fuck half of yall in these comments. I dude wish the headline was RELEASES 3 albums. One it possibly the LL Collab, one is is probably next year. I love any everything Q-Tip does. I want his output more than Andre’s.

      1. Don’t worry dude. Be safe in the knowledge you’ve got taste. There are some clueless, trash talking trolls here – just be happy knowing you’re better than them.

    5. I 4 1 can’t wait anything’s better than this garbage rap that’s out now I’d rather listen 2 the old school cats releasing new material than this new generation putting out bullshit music

    6. I’d be surprised if 1 sees the light of day. Qtip is a perfectionist, on a similar wave length to Dre. I don’t doubt that he has vault full of material. But no perfectionist is every satisfied with what he’s working on. Will def listen if they drop though.
