Pusha T has been on the quiet side when it comes to new music lately, so it’s no wonder fans are getting restless.
On Sunday (September 20), a fan tweeted the G.O.O.D. Music rapper complaining about his lack of material this year, saying, “Bruh 2020 is almost done and we are yet to hear from u…..” A ruthless Pusha responded, telling them to play the waiting game like everyone else.
“So the fuck what?” Pusha said. “You will wait on greatness like the rest…”
Pusha’s response carries the same energy as lyrics on “The Games We Play” from his DAYTONA album.
“They tweet about the length I made ’em wait, what the fuck you expect?/When a n***a got a cape and he’s great,” Pusha raps on the 2018 track.
The Virginia native was in a talkative mood yesterday. In another tweet, a fan asked if DAYTONA was old enough to be considered a classic yet. Pusha wondered why it was even up for debate, but said the 2020 version of himself is on another level.
“That’s still in question?” Pusha asked. “Well fuck it, who cares that was 2018…”2020 Vision Push” is unfuckwitable. On God!”
Pusha’s last album DAYTONA was released on May 25, 2018. Since then, he’s dropped three singles “Sociopath” with Kash Doll, “Coming Home” with Lauryn Hill, and “Puppets” for HBO’s Succession series — all in 2019.
No solo releases have arrived so far in 2020, but he’s featured on Jadakiss‘ “Huntin Season” and Black Thought‘s “Good Morning” with Swizz Beatz and Killer Mike. Part of the reason for Pusha’s absence may be down to his first child Nigel Brixx Thornton being born in June.
In July, Pusha got into a war of words with Young Thug on social media. Thug wasn’t happy Pusha dissed Drake on Pop Smoke‘s unreleased song “Paranoia.”
“I don’t respect the pusha t verse on the song with me and gunna cause I don’t have nun to do with y’all beef nor does Gunna,” Thug said. “And if I knew that was about him I would’ve made changes on our behalf… this rapper shit so gay.”
Pusha then responded to Thug’s comments about the track, which was intended to appear on Pop’s posthumous album Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon.
“Don’t feel bad,” he said. “NOBODY knew what the verse was abt. 1. The label heads that stopped it didn’t even know. They ONLY ASSUME because HE TOLD them! The same way HE TOLD abt the Ross ‘Maybach 6’ verse. And if HE’LL TELL record executives abt rap verses, God only knows what else HE’LL TELL! I don’t deal in Police Work, Police Rappers or Police N****s!!”
Daytona was a major disappointment after how good “King Push – Darkest Before Dawn, The Prelude” was… Should have just gave us the full-length “King Push” LP, that we waited and anticipated for so long!!
your by yourself with that assessment. that album is widely considered a classic. you trollz just get on here to hate.
The dude wasn’t even trolling dumbass, he simply gave his opinion on Daytona (which a lot of fans agreed with at the time) being a disappointing project… The music was good but not as good as King Push – the prelude and it was disappointing that we were promised a full length king push album and instead got a 7 track EP!! YOU DUMBASSES JUST CALL ANYONE A TROLL WHO DOESN’T HAVE THE SAME OPINION AS YOU… GROW UP!
I think the only classic Pusha T unquestionably has is Hell Hath No Fury. I am not sure about Daytona yet. Pusha is in my Top 5 too so no hate here.
nobody cares. Daytona is a classic. the end.
He’s best when Kanye isn’t touching it.
J. Prince called pusha t an ant lol
You gotta respect Pusha because like Kendrick, Rapsody, J Cole, and Wale, he’s more worried about quality not quantity.
LMAO!!!!!! U CANT EVEN PUT PUSH WITH THE ARTIST U MENTIONED!!!! EVERY LAST ONE OF’EM BETTA
Actually I can especially if unlike you I appreciate the wordplay and metaphors in his group and solo albums. Listen and look up his lyrics and HOPEFULLY you’ll see why Kendrick decided to give him a shoutout on his Control verse like he did with J cole and Wale.
Lmao. That is not a classic album. Come on people
It’s definitely a really good album. But I wouldn’t put it on the same level as Hell Hath No Fury. I also preferred Darkest Before the Dawn to Daytona.
Test of time is certainly a factor in what defines a “classic” album but for me it’s always depended on if the album is cohesive and all around dope without a single skippable track. IMO Daytona is definitely a classic.
Dope Ass Album, indeed. Only time will tell if it’s a classic. The Chronic, Doggystyle, It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back, Straight Outta Compton, Ready To Die, Enter The 36 Chambers…THOSE ARE CLASSICS…Daytona…? Yet to be determined…
Definitely a classic.
It’s a classic, NASIR(the visual album) AND Teyanas shit was classic too that Kanye and those artists made some dope shit
“You’ll wait on greatness like the rest…” Pusha is nothing without his fans, he should be reminded. Daytona was absolutely NOT a classic…
Classic EP..right up there with 100 Miles N Runnin….
Hell No….I forgot about that album a week after it dropped. It has to be memorable to be a classic man. I can’t even remember most of these records that come out now. Do you guys even learn the lyrics to these songs anymore? It’s not classic man…raise the bar back up. This shit is good, but only for the moment, that’s not classic.
In my opinion it’s a classic album, but if an artist has to go out of their way to say it’s a classic, it’s most likely not a classic
By the way, why is everyone saying Hell Hath No Fury what about Lord Willing?!
I mean Hell Hath No Fury was far superior. Better rapping, technically flawless and The Neptunes put some space age shit that hasn’t ever been done before. Some of the dopest beats you’ve heard Pushas Keys open door verse is one of the three best verses we’ve ever heard from him and that’s saying something. I loved Lord Willin too man Gangsta Lean and Comedy Central we’re bumped last week at the gym my man.
The word “classic” is really being dumbed down now .. Blueprint is a classic .. Illmatic is a classic album .. The Black Album is a classic album .. Ready 2 Die & Makaveli are classic albums .. Pusha T’s album is nowhere near classic .. but i guess with all the crap out now, this is the better of the bunch .. like if u had to pick a better album, kanye’s soul music crap album or this pusha t crap album, then i guess pusha t gets the nod .. when u have to choose between trashcan and more trashcans, then one of them trashcans have to be considered better ..
Hell no it’s not a classic!! solid album but definitely was the recipient of a lot of gas for what reason…I don’t know
7 songs? I dont consider it a classic. If Pusha wanted to prove he had a classic on his hand, he would’ve dropped a full length album. Is it me or is Pusha the only one who think he’s EP is a classic. I haven’t bumped his album since it came out. You know what’s a classic Pusha? Ready to Die, Me Against the World, All Eyez on Me, Illmatic, Stillmatic, Do or Die, Soul on Ice, Doggystyle, almost every Outkast’s album, DMX 1st album, Get Rich or Die tryin, Marshall Mathers LP, etc… Pusha needs to sit down…
That shit u said…
Facts….these are albums people buy 3 or 4 times in a lifetime…I’m sick of these rappers with their self-proclamations of G.O.A.T. and people scrambling to declare someone G.O.A.T. These titles, classic albums, etc, have to be proven.
Total classic if you don’t agree I can’t even phantom what this generation thinks is a classic ?
3/5
ON GOD NO HATE
I get it Push…I really do. But we need a new album or EP from you soon bruh Lol
Yeah it’s some classic bull shit. Yes, I said it.
The way Daytona was released as one out of 5 albums I think really diminished it’s impact. Maybe if All the albums were crazy good we’d see it different but Ye and Nasir bring that collection down too strongly.
LMAO…dude u feeling yaself 2much. Shit ain’t no damn classic…the before my last dawn shit was like 3and a half at best and I fuck wit dude but 7 songs isnt even an album to me..FOH…how simple is that shit to make?? Think dude focuses on Drake too much..him and his boss…whom is jealous of drake by the way…winning a Grammy or nominated for one doesnt make a 7track cd a classic..Terrence u have 0classics….
Absolute classic. Fan or not and No hate. If you love hip hop and we’re raised on it then you know it’s a classic. You could argue it’s too short and it’s kinda cheating lol but still a flawless album.
5/5
It’s not a classic, it’s an okay album. If anybody thinks Daytona is in the same league with Illmatic, Me Against the World, Enter the Wu-Tang, E1999, Apocalypse ’91, Chronic, Hard To Earn, 400 Degreez, Home Invasion, Dr. Octagonecologyst or Boxcar Sessions that’s a blind and deaf stan.
Totally classic. Listened to this front to back while I refinished my armoire
I strangely dislike Pusha T rapping and character but he makes good songs, and albums, Daytona is a great listen, to be a true classic it needs to face the test of time, real classics are forever and not something some nerd tells you on the internet, we’ll see if it’s a classic in a few years alright
Hahahaha, pusha clearly doesnt understand that an artist cannot label his work ‘classic’. It’s the collective that deem it a classic. We all agree that 36 chambers, the chronic and illmatic are classics, daytona hell no!!!
when Ye back choppin…9/10. it was really really good
Pusha t for years has claimed classic to his major letdown solos
. No clipse no classic
Pusha cant Handle a full album
Nope
Isn’t 7 songs like an ep? Never heard of a classic ep.
Outsidaz Night Life is a classic EP.
Was on Da Rah Rah a few days ago bruh…
Also according to Grammy and Albums standards, the minimum number of songs you need for an album is 7.
Nope. Kanye and Rick Ross features ruin 2/7 songs… and 5 songs can’t make a classic.
It was a great ~22 minute project, not a classic album
No.
no
It’s a 9/10. Good enough to keep us satisfied for a while
It’s a 2010 classic
