Pusha T & No Malice Confirm New Clipse Album Produced By Pharrell

Pusha T and No Malice have corroborated the rumors about a new Clipse project, revealing that it is produced entirely by longtime collaborator Pharrell.

In an interview with Vulture published on Wednesday (June 19), the siblings went into detail about what will be their first album since 2009’s Til the Casket Drops.

“I think the album shows the supreme maturation of a rap duo,” Push began. “I think this is where you get the difference between taste and filler. This music is curated. This is a high taste-level piece of work. You can only have that level of taste when you have the fundamentals down to a science. I think it’s been definitely missing. Then there’s the competitive aspect.”

His brother added: “This is smart basketball. It’s fundamentals. And not only that, it’s authenticity. It’s what rap should look like if you’re real about your craft, real about your experience, real about your storytelling. It’s bringing the fans along to see the growth, not trying to fit in or fabricate.

“It just seems like in other genres of music, they have the luxury of growing. For some reason, we act like we’re not supposed to evolve. This is what the true evolution of the Clipse looks like. It’s just good to be able to show that and still have high-level raps.”

Without revealing any of the features, the former GOOD Music president said: “Pharrell producing everything is also an ode to the type of music and the type of albums we want to make. We still want to make full bodies of work. These are movies, man. These aren’t just songs. This isn’t just a collection of joints we went in and banged out.

“This is arguing. This is a problem. These are people passionate about their opinions and making sure that everybody’s on their A-game. Listen, I can be mad at the engineer, you know what I’m saying? Even he has to be on point. I think that’s the level of meticulousness that a Clipse fan looks for.”

The pair also shared that they did not work with the other half of the Neptunes production team, Chad Hugo, who has been embroiled in a legal battle with his peer from Virginia over trademark ownership.

A release date for the upcoming album has yet to be announced.

    1. Look forward to a new Clipse joint but not sure if I want Pharrell doing the whole album. Carry on!!!

      1. why? he KILLED it on his half of It’s Almost Dry and helped create their entire sound (the non lyrical part obv) – They both bring the best out of each other…also albums produced by ONE producer that has actual range like Pharrell is always good, case and point: look what Hitboy did for Nas and his awful ear for beats…but its not repetitive even after SIX albums in 3yrs!

    2. I can’t wait to hear their new album!! I been waiting a long time to hear something from them and I’m glad that Clipse is not beefing with each other. They are very intelligent and it shows in their lyrics.

    3. Pharell…Just produce hip hop bangers for Clipse. That is it! None of that future stuff. Just dope hell hath no fury level dopeness.

      1. Pharrells half of Its Almost Dry is some of the dopest work he ever done. If he keeps that same energy then the Clipse album will be incredible. From the quotes it sounds like they are not messing around.
