Plies has condemned CEOs for not paying enough to employees who risk coronavirus infection daily.
The longtime Florida rapper and label owner delivered the short video rant via Instagram on Tuesday (March 31) after some of the realities of the pandemic dawned on him.
“I woke up this morning and I thought about it, and I said, ‘Yeah y’all. This shit about ‘we the richest country in the world’ – I get all of that!” he said. “But what I don’t get (is), you tell us a hundred thousand people gon’ die from this pandemic.”
Plies then tore into CEOs for underpaying “frontline” workers – such as those in the retail, hospitality or medical industries – while they remain safe at home.
“And you got people out here, still on the fuckin frontline working,” he said. “Whether they at Publix, whether they at Walmart, whether they work at the bank, (are) an airline stewardess or fuckin’ doctors. “People out here on the front line, still risking their fucking life, while all of you CEOs home, quarantining with your goddamn family.”

Plies ended his diatribe by issuing an impassioned plea to CEOs to increase wages for the dangers they’re facing.
“And all I’m saying is, if they gon’ risk they fucking life, pay ‘em like they fucking risking they life!” he said. “You don’t risk your fuckin’ life for no nine dollars an hour, no eleven dollars an hour. No fucking $30 an hour. Pay ‘em like they fucking risking they life!”
I always find it interesting when a celebrity wants to to talk about the plights of people less fortunate (in this case significantly less fortunate). Most people have the option to not work if they choose. There comes a point where you have to balance the risk of getting the Wuhan virus vs the reward of having a job. The estimate for deaths from this that come from Dr Fauci are between 100,000-240,000. There is no spinning this to; “how many people need to die”. Nobody needs to die, but unfortunately it looks like that can happen. You don’t know other people’s situations to where they feel like they need to work. Also, people just need to work for the economy to move. Instead of acting purely based on emotion; we, and I mean celebrities need to think of facts in their statements as opposed to trying to push some sort of narrative like they understand what the common person goes through. Kind of easy to push the stay in place, and minimum wage shit when you live in a nice house and make good money.

Honestly I think that celebrities as a whole are out of touch and have no concept of the reality of the the “Everyman/woman”. We are in an economic downturn, and the unemployment rate is rising.Talking minimum wage as opposed to people who started a company and don’t have to do the work anymore is not really a productive talking point right now.
