Playboi Carti‘s new album Music has made a huge splash on streaming services, eclipsing releases from Drake and Kendrick Lamar, among other Hip Hop heavyweights.

The long-delayed album, which finally arrived last week, racked up 139.3 million first-day streams on Spotify, according to Chart Data, making it the biggest debut of 2025 so far and the seventh largest of all time.

Music had more single-day streams than Drake’s Scorpion (132 million), Travis Scott‘s Utopia (128 million) and Kendrick Lamar‘s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers (100 million).

The album has also surpassed Drizzy’s For All the Dogs and his joint album with 21 Savage, Her Loss, as well Kanye West‘s Donda.

The only artists to have had bigger debuts on the world’s largest streaming platform are Drake with Certified Lover Boy, Taylor Swift with three different albums and Bad Bunny with two of his projects.

Music quickly made waves with its lengthy 30-song tracklist and star-studded supporting cast which boasts Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, Future, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, The Weeknd, Skepta and Ty Dolla $ign.

Kendrick makes three appearances on the album, including on “Good Credit” where he appears to address the messy aftermath of his beef with Drake.

“The numbers is nothing, the money is nothing, I really been him, I promise / Say Kenny been heavy out West and I carry the weight, n-gga, I’m Luka Dončić / Conspiracy theories is a given, but I must admit it, you got the wrong person,” he raps in his braggadocious yet playful guest verse.

The “conspiracy theories” bar appears to reference Drizzy’s bombshell lawsuit against Universal Music Group, which accuses the music giant of conspiring with Kendrick’s longtime label Interscope, Spotify and other companies to artificially inflate the popularity of his hit diss song “Not Like Us.”

Despite the frenzy surrounding his surprise appearances (which were initially hidden from the tracklist), one person who was not a fan of Kendrick’s contributions was Kanye West.

In a bold admission on social media, the controversial rap legend wrote: “I DONT LIKE KENDRICK LAMARS MUSIC. HE RAPS VERY GOOD BUT I DIDNT NEED TO HEAR HIM ON CARTI ALBUM.”
