Playboi Carti has a song sampling a JAY-Z classic in the works, but it won’t be landing on his long-awaited album I Am Music – which he says is officially in the can.

Over the weekend, Carti shared a photo of himself to his Instagram Story, soundtracking it with Hov’s 2001 single, “Girls Girls Girls.” Shortly afterward, he shared a screenshot of a text from producer Wheezy that read, “Ima sample that girls girls girls for you for the album.”

Fans assumed this meant he is still working on I Am Music – which would then likely delay it past its latest projected release of March 2025. However, Carti assured fans that’s not the case.

“MY ALBUM DONE ME N WHEEZY TALKING ABOUT SOME OL OTHER SH*TTT,” he clarified in a post.

Last week, Playboi Carti appeared to suggest that he’s gearing up to drop I Am Music very soon.

Through his record label Opium’s Instagram page, Carti tagged Spotify and wrote to the streaming platform: “WHAT WE DOIN
LETS GONE CLEAR DESE HO AHH NIG OUT.”

After the company replied with several hourglass emojis, King Vamp wrote back on his Instagram Stories: “YAL BOYS PUSH UP MY N-GHA.”

In response to a fan who commented on his aforementioned post and urged him to “just drop the album already,” Carti simply wrote: “FASHO [100 emoji].”

I Am Music has been available to pre-save since September 2024, with a notice on Playboi Carti’s website saying the album would be released “NO LATER THAN SIX MONTHS FROM SEPTEMBER 12, 2024.”

With that March 12 deadline just over a week away, I Am Music could be released in the coming days.

The ad spots read “Music Is Coming” and feature a Spotify logo, but no further info was made available.
