Playboi Carti‘s new album may finally be nearing a release if new billboards popping up around the U.S. are any indication.
On Monday (February 17), fans spotted billboards for Carti’s long-awaited I Am Music album in both Los Angeles and Miami.

“I promise you the album is coming, so it’s only right that I come here tonight and give you a world premiere,” he shouted into the microphone before playing a new track.
Then in a cover story for Billboard in September, producer Cardo — whose credits include Drake‘s “God’s Plan,” Travis Scott‘s “Goosebumps” and Kendrick Lamar‘s “Euphoria” — suggested that he and the Atlanta rapper have pioneered a whole new subgenre with the project.

“Carti’s style is in constant evolution, and he and Cardo already have a name for the sound they’ve been workshopping for the project: ‘burnt music,’” the article reads.
“We’ll be in the studio, like, ‘This music is burnt,’” explained Cardo, who soundtracked Carti’s recent singles “H00DBYAIR,” “EVILJ0RDAN” and the Travis Scott-assisted “BACKR00MS.”

Billboard reported the album was scheduled to arrive before the end of 2024 and all signs pointed to it, especially after Carti premiered a slew of new songs at Rolling Loud Miami in December. But the album has yet to materialize with no firm release date in sight.
Some fans were so annoyed by the continued delay that they created an online petition calling for Carti to be banned from streaming platforms.

But earlier this month, Carti credited Kai Cenat with putting the battery in his back to finally share the long-awaited album.
Carti reposted a video of Cenat urging him to drop his album during a red carpet interview at the 2025 Grammy Awards.
Asked by Access Hollywood what he thought was missing from music in 2025, Kai answered: “The Playboi Carti album. He needs to drop, for real. Carti gotta drop. I know Carti gon’ see this. Carti, just drop!
“I’m on national TV. Drop, gang! You feel what I’m saying? So yeah, that’s what we missing. In my world, a lot of people need that, so we need to make sure that happens.”
