NYC Mayoral Candidate Andrew Yang Gives Politician’s Answer When Asked Fav JAY-Z Song

Any honest JAY-Z could easily tell you a favorite song or three from the soon to be Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member. Former presidential and now NYC mayoral candidate Andrew Yang got put on the spot by Ziwe Fumudoh for an upcoming episode of Ziwe and Yang kept it as political as possible.

“I listened to a lot of hip-hop during like the 90s and 2000s,” Yang said when asked about listening to rap music. After Ziwe presses him on giving a specific name, he centers on two of New York’s greats, Nas and JAY-Z.

“What’s your favorite Jay-Z song?” Ziwe asks Yang. “I mean, he’s a New Yorker.”

Yang pauses for a moment and looks around, unable to determine an answer for himself. He audibly asks, “What is my favorite JAY-Z song?” before the clip abruptly cuts.

The awkward moment is the latest for Yang, who continues to make his case to be the next mayor for New York. Yang’s agreement to join Ziwe on the show comes only days after she pitched the idea to him on Twitter. In a leaked clip ahead of the interview airing on Sunday (May 23), Yang ultimately revealed his choice, going with “Numb/Encore” from Hov’s collaboration effort with Linkin Park. His backup choice? “Niggas In Paris” from Watch The Throne although Yang swiftly referred to the song as “Ninjas In Paris” as to not offend anyone.

JAY-Z, Nas & Diddy Give Their Endorsement For NYC Mayoral Candidate Ray McGuire

Even with Yang’s answer to his favorite Hov song, he doesn’t exactly have the mogul’s early endorsement. In April, Hov threw his backing behind former CitiGroup CEO Ray McGuire to replace current New York mayor Bill da Blasio. He wasn’t alone. Nas, Diddy and Steve Stoute joined Hov in endorsing McGuire with Puff boldly proclaiming the city was in dire straits.

“New York is in a state of emergency. This is my endorsement for Ray,” Diddy said. “Through those 30 years, wherever we were at, Ray was always talking about the people. We have the power to light this up.”

    1. Can Mayor DeBlowsio name his favorite Jay-Zs song? Doubt it. Remember people, as you vote for Roy McGuire for mayor because of his skin color, he is also anti-crime and pro-police. So all of your favorite rappers are voting for more police presence unlike DeBlowsio. Hence, McGuire got my vote if I could do it as a Los Angelino lol

      1. We are all falling for their lies. Poor white people believed trump when he said he was focused on their plight. The outcome rich people got richer and everyone else’s share of the pie got smaller. Same thing with poor blacks under the Obama administration. Our incomes are shrinking, our healthcare, housing and education is unaffordable and were being fed poison which is getting us fat and sick. Open your eyes we have no friends in dc.

      1. If you say you’re a fan and you can’t name a song that makes you a liar. No one forced him to say that, he just wanted to appeal to the hiphop generation. Also hiphop isn’t just a black thing, 70% of hiphop fans are white. That assumption is racist.

    2. Is it a coincidence that there’s a chinese dude trying to be mayor after all this asian hate propaganda and all the covid wuhan controversy?

      1. He is Taiwanese originated from TAIWAN not mainland China. I’m pretty sure Chinese government doesn’t want this guy to be on any position in Washington. Learn some about foreign politics before you say stupid shit on internet.

    3. It’s not the dumb politicians that are the problem, it’s the people for voting for them. Look at what Biden and Harris have made of the US. This is what we call PANDERING. Much like Biden sitting with Cardi B for a televised meeting (LOL) and paying her up bash trump on Twitter

      1. Why can’t you see that both parties suck? They work for the rich and powerful, not the rest of us? Whether its Obama or trump, the rich get richer and we eat shit.

    4. Obama did the same thing with his “playlist”. How stupid do you have to honestly be to think Obama listens to even 1% of that playlist?

    5. should have asked him his favourite kings of leon song. i doubt he has at any time really listened to jay-z’s music.
