Childish Gambino a.k.a. Donald Glover Hosting Andrew Yang Fundraiser

Childish Gambino a.k.a. Donald Glover and Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang have teamed up for a not-so-secret pop-up fundraiser in Los Angeles on Thursday (December 19).

Glover a.k.a. Childish Gambino posted the announcement on his Instagram story, which was unexpected as the star has not endorsed any candidate publicly since the 2020 Presidential campaign began.

Yang made the announcement on his Twitter.

The Democratic candidate wrote, “Attention L.A. #YangGang!”

Glover a.k.a. Childish Gambino’s manager retweeted Yang. “Yang is solid. Before media gasses shit up just now both will be in attendance and we’re raising money for the campaign,” he wrote. “Simple and easy, show up and support or don’t.”

Rather than the typical political fundraiser, the event will be modeled after a pop-up shop with a merchandise collaboration between Glover a.k.a. Childish and Yang being sold. The sales will contribute to Yang’s presidential campaign.

Glover a.k.a. Childish Gambino is no stranger to politics as the Grammy Award-winning “This is America” set the world on fire with its video becoming the fifth-fastest music video in YouTube’s history to reach 100 million views after only nine days.

The pop-up fundraiser highlighted a year of huge success for the multimedia star with the box office success of The Lion King and the critically-acclaimed Guava Island.
