‘Who Want Smoke?’ Rapper Nardo Wick Explains Why Robberies Were More Lucrative Than Having A Real Job

Nardo Wick’s stock has risen since his breakout hit “Who Want Smoke?” put him on the radar of rap connoisseurs. He’s seeing a lot of money come his way, and he appears to be enjoying it, especially when he’s not that far removed from his old life.

During a recent visit to the Big Facts Podcast, Wick reflected on his past upbringing and how life is different for him now. According to Wick, there was a point in his life where he thought robbing people was way more lucrative than having a real job. Now that he’s a full-time rapper, he’s ditched that mindset.

“I would just look at it like I would go rob a n-gga and get this much, why would I go to work,” Wick said. “But you got to think, for real though, if I go do this to somebody and get $7,000 or $5,000, why I’m finna go to work for two weeks and make $500, hell nah.”

The hosts of the Big Facts Podcast chuckled at Nardo’s admission, but the 19-year-old rap star was serious as he could be. Fortunately, he doesn’t have to rob anyone anymore, given he’s one of the brightest young rappers in the game.

'Who Want Smoke?' Rapper Nardo Wick Earns 1st Platinum Hit Ahead Of Debut Album

Nardo Wick proved that last month when he earned his first platinum plaque for “Who Want Smoke?” from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The song grew legs on social media, specifically TikTok. It became so popular Lil Durk, G Herbo and 21 Savage lent their voices to the remix, which peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Wick took to his Instagram to announce the news by simply appreciating his fans for all the support: “I Preciate y’all,” he wrote in the caption.

    1. Guess it’s good he got out before he learned words like risk, retaliation, consequence. Too small to get a wolf off you without a gun.

    2. Why should I argue with someone when I can just shoot him?

    3. This dumbass sucks at math. LOL. Rob a dude for $7000. Get caught, do 1.5 years in prison. You’re making $195 every two weeks to sit in prison dummy. This is the type of dude to pull a gun on cops, get shot then yell racism from a hospital bed on the gram. SMH

    4. The Nubo-Egyptian desert was once abundantly watered and a well timbered region. With the exclusion of the narrow Nile valley, all of this is generally a barren waste today. Geology reveals that in the primitive ages, this country had a moist climate like the Congo basin; but these conditions prevailed in remote geological times, probably before the creation of the delta. The changes that turned the Sahara into a burning waste in time made Upper Egypt dry and torrid. Keane describes its climate as often fatal to all but full blooded natives. Under those brazen skies the children of even Euro-African half castes seldom survive after the tenth or twelfth year. Passing southward, we find that ancient edifices occur throughout the whole extent of Ethiopia. In the olden days, the climate there was favorable to the nurturing and development of a high type of civilization and produced an Ethiopian so superior to the later types, that they were called by the ancients, “the handsomest men of the primeval world.”
