N.O.R.E. has been accused of subtly throwing shade at longtime nemesis Ma$e after the rapper critiqued his transition into reggaeton.
The Drink Champs host took to Instagram to re-share a video of Ma$e announcing his retirement back in 1999, which he said was done in order to follow a “calling from God” and become an ordained minister.

“I miss when hiphop had messages like this!!! God bless everyone on a Sunday!!!” N.O.R.E. wrote.
A since-deleted comment on N.O.R.E’s Instagram had noted that the podcaster might have heard Ma$e’s recent comments during an appearance on the It Is What It Is podcast, in which he compared ESPN changing up their look to “a gangsta rapper doing a reggaeton album.”
Following his hardcore Capone-N-Noreaga rap projects, N.O.R.E. dramatically made the switch into reggaeton with the 2006 single “Oye Mi Canto.” The track became his second biggest hit peaking at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and appeared on the rapper’s fourth studio album N.O.R.E. y la Familia…Ya Tú Sabe.
Last September, N.O.R.E. admitted that he believes he pioneered reggaeton in America after a fan called him the “king” of the genre.
“Maybe not the king but I damn sure made it pop in America !!!! Nobody did reggae tone until I did FACTS,” N.O.R.E. tweeted at the time.
N.O.R.E. and Ma$e haven’t been on good terms for a while now, and the Queens rapper isn’t the only one who’s had issues with him in recent years. During a visit to Gillie Da Kid and Wallo’s Million Dollaz Worth Of Game podcast last year, Fivio Foreign claimed the former Bad Boy Records rapper had him sign a questionable recording contract with his RichFish Records which included a measly $5,000 advance.

The situation got to a point where Fivio thought about paying a visit to N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN’s podcast with a tweet that read, “I mite have to do Drink Champs.”
The “Big Drip” rapper later hopped on social media to continue promoting an upcoming single that happened to sample Ma$e’s 1997 classic “What You Want” featuring Total, but this time he made a bold claim with the caption of his post.

“Single handedly bringing N-ggas bacc to life,” Fivio wrote in the caption while the chorus to the original “What You Want” rings off in the background.
In better news, N.O.R.E. recently was brought to tears while celebrating the 25th anniversary of his debut album, saying he took a moment in the bathroom while at a celebratory dinner to reflect on the project.
