Millyz was detained by police in Phoenix over the weekend following a traffic stop that turned up a legal firearm, as confirmed by a member of his team.

In a video doing the rounds online, the Cambridge, Massachusetts rapper can be seen being removed from the back of his car by about six police officers from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department.

A rep for the rapper told HipHopDX that Millyz and his entourage were “definitely targeted in Phoenix,” and that the clip was “not a skit or promo.”

“They tailed us for 10 blocks then detained us for a legal firearm. Then let us go hours later,” they continued, adding that all the car’s passengers were “detained by the car.”

Millyz ultimately wasn’t detained overnight, which is why there was no mugshot available on the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department website.

It’s not just the police who seem to have an issue with Millyz. Back in March, Slim Jxmmi of Rae Sremmurd took aim at the Boston native for his flip of Eminem‘s super-smash hit, “Stan,” while claiming that he had a better version on the way.

Millyz saluted Slim Shady for clearing the sample for him to use on recent track “Tonight,” while sharing a preview of the song on Instagram.

But Slim Jxmi, whose brother and groupmate Swae Lee previously teased a remake of “Stan” on TikTok in August 2022, took to the comments section to dismiss Millyz’s version while hyping up Rae Sremmurd’s own version.

“Naw this ain’t it fam!” Jxmmi wrote under Millyz’s post. “Sremm4 got the banging version! Sample cleared!”

Millyz replied: “I cleared the sample too lil dude u be aight.”

Swae Lee’s aforementioned TikTok video has over five million views and found him changing the “Stan” chorus to lyrics about lean and racks.

My lean’s gone cold I’m wondering why I, got out of bed at all/ 3.5 clouds up my window, and I can’t see at all/ And even if I could it would all be great, with these racks stacked up too tall/ It reminds me that it’s not so bad, it’s not so bad at all,” he sang in the clip.

Slim Jxmmi also hopped in the comments section of Akademiks’ Instagram post to claim Millyz’s idea to use the song came from Swae Lee’s video. “Wasn’t nobody on this sample till my brother leaked his version singing live,” he wrote.
