Metro Boomin has revealed that working with 21 Savage can be exhausting for one specific reason.
In an interview with Timbaland for Rolling Stone that debuted on Friday (October 18), the super-producer spoke about one particular challenging part of his fruitful relationship with the Atlanta rapper.

When Timbo asked Metro how often he asks artists to redo their vocals, the “Like That” producer explained: “As I get older, more and more. Me and [21] Savage get into that sometimes. It’s the same thing you said with you and Missy: He’s the pickiest artist I’ve ever worked with, with the beats. I’ll play this man 35 or 40 beats before he wants to get in the booth. And it can be draining: He’ll go, ‘Next one, next one, next one, next one.’ But in return, I’m like, ‘OK, you’ve gotta overly bring it on this one. I’m not taking any OK shit, n-gga.’”
Timbaland responded with: “I think y’all make some incredible music together.”

Metro responded with: “He’s definitely my favorite to work with. We’ll get on each other’s nerves, go back and forth all the time. But at the end of the day, we make each other better. If I play him 20 beats and he’s not really feeling them, I’m going home and cooking up. You need that.”
Despite their sometimes taxing relationship, it was back in June that Metro shared the possibility of a third entry into the Savage Mode series.
In a post to X (formerly Twitter), Metro previewed a new beat from the studio, which a fan pointed out sounded like it could live on Savage Mode III.
Responding to the fan, Metro simply wrote eyeball emojis – which doesn’t confirm the possibility that a new project with 21 Savage is on the way, but it certainly doesn’t deny it.

21 Savage released the first Savage Mode in 2016. The nine-track project, billed as an EP, featured production from Metro Boomin as well Southside, Sonny Digital, Zaytoven, G Koop and Cubeatz and a sole guest feature from Future.
Four years later, 21 linked with Metro for the entirety of Savage Mode II, resulting in a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200. The project featured appearances from from Young Thug, Young Nudy and Drake – the last of which likely won’t be appearing on the potential third installment, given his beef with Metro.
