Meek Mill is gearing up to unleash his Flamerz 5 project next week, but fans shouldn’t expect the mixtape to land on any major streaming service.
Opting to go the independent route, the Philly rapper feels artists are being exploited by streaming services and the major label system so his music will be available elsewhere. He hasn’t explained exactly where Flamerz 5 will live but has teased the idea of SoundCloud, MyMixtapez, Audiomack or DatPiff.

Meek went on to claim he was only making about a dollar for every 1,000 streams and he’d rather rely on his street business intuition while selling his projects on platforms like CashApp.
Ultimately, it’s not all about a dollar sign for the Dreamchasers boss who wants to pay it forward to the next generation, explaining he learnt life lessons by listening to the likes of Lil Wayne, 2Pac,Rick Ross, Jeezy, T.I., 50 Cent and more while growing up.
“I learned ‘life guidelines’ thru jay and kiss lil wayne Ross Tupac x nas Jeezy ti 50 cent..biggie etc…. Got me thru good and bad times … that’s worth more than 1$ for every spin,” he tweeted.
Meek Mill kickstarted his Flamerz series back in 2008, which was pivotal in helping the rapper gain a buzz in his hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The last installment arrived in March 2010 and featured appearances from Black Thought, Freeway, Gillie Da Kid and more.

Meek teased the opening track on Twitter earlier this week. The song is produced by Dream Chasers’ Nick Papz and samples Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger,” made famous by the 1982 film Rocky III (which was set in Philly). Look for Flamerz 5 to arrive on an alternative platform to be determined on November 21.
Meek will also be celebrating the 10th anniversary of his Dreams and Nightmares album with a homecoming concert at Wells Fargo Center on November 26.
