Meek Mill Donates 6,000 Backpacks to Philadelphia Students

Meek Mill is teaming up with a few brands to donate 6,000 backpacks to his hometown of Philadelphia, PA this week.

The “Legends of the Summer” rapper is teaming up with Puma, United Legwear, sports shop Fanatics and Philadelphia’s luxury store Milano Di Rogue to donate the backpacks. There will be backpacks for elementary, middle school and high school students. The backpacks for the elementary kids and middle schoolers will include pencil sharpeners, rulers, glue sticks and crayons.  The high schoolers will receive dry erase markers, notebooks and pens in their backpacks.

Meek explained to TMZ that his own experiences and family struggles inspired him to help the students, “Those memories stay with me and that’s why I’m committed to giving back to families in my hometown, putting smiles on kids’ faces and helping them start the school year on the right note with the right supplies.”

Earlier today Wednesday (August 29), TMZ captured Meek surprising some students his alma mater, James G. Blaine Elementary School with backpacks.

Meek is preparing to co-headline the Made in America Festival this Labor Day weekend (September 1-2), which is also his first show at home since being released from prison.
