Court Rules On MC Hammer’s Request To Have Back Taxes Waived

MC Hammer’s request to reverse the ruling that he owes nearly $800,000 in back taxes has been denied, according to Bossip.

MC Hammer was sued by the federal government in 2012 over unpaid taxes from 1996 and 1997. The rapper lost the case and was ordered to pay the money, plus legal fees. He appealed, saying that he accounted for the money in his 1996 bankruptcy filing.

After a long back-and-forth, the court ruled on Thursday (December 17), that the government was owed the $800,000.

MC Hammer allegedly owes the federal government nearly $800,000 in back taxes.

TMZ reports that the feds have sued Hammer and his wife, alleging that they failed to pay $798,033.48 in taxes in 1996 and 1997.

This isn’t the rapper’s first sign of legal trouble, as Hammer originally filed for bankruptcy in 1996 after accruing $13 million in debt. His well-publicized financial troubles culminated in the sale of his mansion for a significantly reduced price. He admitted using most of his $20 million fortune in 1997. Hammer also faced obstruction charges in California earlier this year, but they were dropped.

Hammer also made headlines in 2010 when he took offense a Jay Z lyric from Kanye West’s “So Appalled,” resulting in a diss track from Hammer.

How is Yeezus not nominated for album of the year but Macklemore’s is? These awards are so trash its honestly sad that they are considered to be so prestigious among popular culture.

    3. MC Hammer was an unfortunate victim of theft. They stole his money and he struggled. He was hiphop god until he went bankrupt. At least Wayne is financially secure.
