Max B’s conviction will be the subject of season four of Gimlet’s Conviction Spotify podcast anthology series.
Spotify released the trailer for The Conviction of Max B on Wednesday (January 11), with host Brandon “Jinx” Jenkins narrating the synopsis. The five-episode series will focus on the fateful night in 2006 when Max B allegedly plotted a robbery that went wrong and ended in a kidnapping and murder.

Jenkins will also take listeners behind the trial that landed the rapper an initial 75-year prison sentence.
“This is the story of a rapper who risked it all for a bag full of money, a robbery where everything went wrong, a messy trial, and a sentence that makes you question who the justice system works for, and who it works against,” a press release states.
The Conviction of Max B will arrive on January 17, with all five episodes being immediately available to stream.
In 2009, Max B was sentenced to 75 years behind bars for his alleged involvement in an armed robbery gone wrong. He was charged with conspiracy related to armed robbery, kidnapping, aggravated assault and felony murder.
The Harlem-born rapper is alleged to have plotted to rob two men with his stepbrother, Kelvin Leerdam, and ex-girlfriend, Gina Conway, at a Holiday Inn in New Jersey in September 2006. The botched robbery resulted in one of the men being shot dead.
