Mathematics Responds To Reported Lawsuit Over Wu-Tang Clan’s “People Say”

Mathematics, the longtime DJ and producer of Wu-Tang Clan, has addressed a recent report claiming ’60s soul group The Diplomats are suing Wu-Tang over a sample.

TMZ claims The Diplomats — not to be confused with the Dipset collective — are suing due to the unauthorized use of their song “I’ve Got The Kind Of Love” in Wu-Tang’s 2017 single “People Say” featuring Redman. Mathematics, who produced the track and the entire Wu-Tang: The Saga Continues compilation album, acknowledged a sample claim has been made but said he was unaware of any lawsuit regarding the matter.

“I was made aware of the ‘People Say’ sample claim in December,” he wrote via Twitter on Saturday (March 17). “To my knowledge, my attorney and The Diplomats attorney have been working closely and in good faith to resolve this matter. I am not aware of a pending lawsuit regarding this matter nor have I been served with one.”

TMZ’s report cites court documents, which say The Diplomats are seeking damages and want Wu-Tang to stop selling the song.

    1. After all theses years, the WU-TANG CLAN still making the headlines regularly. My generation stays winning while the new generation (LMAO!) males do suspect shit for attention like wear skinny jeans, dresses, skirts, and whatever feminine products they can get their hands on. Mumbling on tracks because they’re incapable of writing a real rap. Sissies.

          1. That seems what a repressed and delusional homo would say. Is it because of crack? Did you start smoking crack because of WU-TANG? Run! There is a skinny jeans behind you.

      1. There is NOTHING GAYER ON EARTH than a 35-45 year old harping about shitty 90s bullshit vs new bullshit. You need to make a change because you are too old to be posting on this site.

        1. Hmmm…nah. I think I’ll keep posting. And the only change that needs to be made here is that tampon in your pussy.

          1. So you do admit that you are a man of middle age? You only got a few more years to go then you can enroll in AARP along with the old boys in WuTang

        2. Complaining about middle aged posters coming in here when the top stories on here at moment are Wu Tang, 50, The Game, Eminem, Sean Price, Rick Ross etc

Smh GTFO young blood, you are as forgettable as your generations music.

    2. This track bumps. Wu still puts out quality music. I hope they put out another album that goes #1 but that mumble lean lazy shit seems to be what people want to hear

    3. Remember when the God Ol Dirty said that about Sonny Carson. Sonny Carson? yeah you, you motherfucker, you son of a bitch. Same goes for the Diplomats in 2018 in the name of ODB ?

    4. They probably thought the album sucked and were pissed that Ugod was missing, RZA didnt produce any tracks. Fuck it guys, lets sue them.

    5. What idiots didn’t clear the actual sample? How does this shit still occur in this day and age where it’s so easy to trace the origins of the record. Irresponsible. This shit is the music business, not pirate radio.

      1. Some of them decline the offer. Most of them don’t even own their own music. And It’s up to the label not the artist. It’s not as easy as you think.

    6. why would they release the track and include in the album without clearance of the sample? i dont get it..

    7. So what I’m a 16 yr old and I listen to the golden age of hip hop which I love more than this crappy ass mumbling shit generation
