As Master P continues to put the finishing touches on the first part of his personal and No Limit biopic, The Ice Cream Man: King of the South, the Colonel of the Tank opened up a huge opportunity for aspiring Hollywood actors and actresses to star in the film.
Yesterday (March 22) Master P and Uptown Group Pictures brought their casting tour to Hollywood’s doorstep and experienced a huge turnout from all colors, creeds, genders and ranges of talent. P exclusively tells HipHopDX that the film’s rollout will be special — not just for its true “rag to riches” story but for the legacy it will create.
“This King of the South biopic will be like the next classic after the Tupac All Eyez on Me biopic [which releases this summer],” P tells HipHopDX. “I want all the people to get excited because it’s coming real soon.”
The casting tour will conclude in P’s hometown New Orleans on April 4. The movie will begin filming this summer and the veteran music mogul also reveals to HipHopDX he hopes for its release to come in January on Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday next year.
During an April 2016 conversation with HipHopDX, Master P let the cat out the bag that Queen Latifah had been added to the film’s cast, with veteran actor Wendell Pierce following suit shortly after.

I’m more excited about this than any of the hiphop biopics what P did in the 90s with No Limit will never be done again and he is bringing NO Limit back with Marquis Clae that kid is dope
I’ve always liked P but I’m not really interested in a biopic from him.
Brother was killed…
C-Murder locked up for murder…
Going to LA to build his name…
P was the first one to really get paid in the 90s.. Might see the blueprint to how he did it…
Put out some films…
NBA career…
Kane & Abel, Mystikal, Mia X, C Murder, Silkk, Snoop, etc….
I think the film could be interesting… Not a classic, but a good watch..
Hell yea UGHHH, P the reason the South is still #1 and Mainstream Worldwide #rns #facts
nwa then tupac it has to be P next cant wait to see this he really came from the projects unlike most rappers he really from the struggle and made that into an empire
Congrats to Master P keep doing your thing
P ain’t done shit in like 17 years worth talking about, he played his self when he started saying rappers should stop cussing in they raps and he was starting a rap label with no cussing a year later he was out here making trap music with all kinds of cussing. To me P is a good hustler who got lucky not as smart as people think he is, and P is not like the older legends like Jay, snoop, nas, Bone thugs, wu tang people still wanna see those acts do shows I think P fan base died out pretty hard majority of them became bossie and cash money fans.
Hasn’t done anything in 17 years and is worth $350 million. Pretty smart.
Tries to ‘act rich’, but tellin’ his wife he’s BROKE, can’t pay her nothing…… he doesn’t sound straightup! He got lucky for a quick 3 year run ’93-97, crapped out after that, has tried to come ‘back’ 47 times, GTFOH tryin’ to compare to N.W.A & 2PAC Stories! He was a ‘third stringer’; compared to them! #MasterPeePeeIceCreamMelted
Your stupid as fuck you don’t know shit Master P Made $1.5 Billion dollar with Interscope Records before he went out on his own With No Limit. He signed Snoop Dogg When Dr Dre Owed Everyone Millions Of Dollars. He Paid For 50 Cents Wankster Tour You Should Know About That Sinve You A Waiter & Window Shopper You Broke Ass Bitch.
Master P and No Limit ran the late 90s. A biopic on their come up should be interesting.
You need to go back to 1st grade math 93-97 is 4 years not 3. Plus No Limit rurun lasted until 2001. Master P ventured off into running over 40 businesses . The richest rap moguls don’t sell albums no more (ex. Dr.Dre, Diddy, Jay-Z) .
If u from the south master p was the shit
Since P ain’t shit I guess ur biopic would better serve the community. Over 75 million sold, how many do you have sold
A who do you keep strong violence
