Although Kanye West was criticized by some following his near-interruption of Beck’s acceptance speech for Album Of The Year at the Grammys several weeks ago, one musician has come to the Chicago lyricist’s defense.
In addition to referring to ‘Ye as “a brilliant madman” and “a beautiful mess,” pop star Madonna stated that the rapper shouldn’t “go to awards shows looking for justice,” during her new cover story with Rolling Stone.
“Don’t go to awards shows looking for justice,” Madonna said. “That’s like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Just go and have fun. I never got too engaged with who wins awards or not, because I don’t honestly think it’s that important. So that part of him I can’t relate to. Like, what’s the point of fighting for somebody to … like, ‘This person should have got it?’… I think sometimes he takes things too seriously.”
With Kanye West serving as co-producer of several songs on her upcoming, Rebel Heart album, Madonna was able to offer her thoughts on Kanye as a person. She revealed that such an artist is needed in the music industry.
“It’s really hard to describe Kanye in one sentence, so I may have to use several,” she said during her Rolling Stone interview. “He’s a brilliant madman. He can’t help himself. Like, he doesn’t have the same filters other people have. He has to blurt things out – he’s always saying inappropriate stuff. But he also has brilliant ideas, if you can get him to pay attention long enough, working with him in the studio. He would come and go. He would drive me bonkers, because he’s got so many things going on in his life. And this seemed to be the theme of my record, working with people who can’t get off their phone, can’t stop tweeting, can’t focus and finish a song. It drove me crazy. But when they did pay attention, it was brilliant. I was, like, running around with a butterfly net. But I feel like the music business needs him, because everyone’s become so politically correct, so safe. I don’t always agree with the things he says or does – I don’t always like his music, even. But he’s a beautiful mess. I love him.”
For additional Kanye West coverage, watch the following DX Daily:
Who remembers when Kanye Kardashian threw a hissy fit and bolted from the American Music Awards in 2004 after losing Best New Artist to Gretchen Wilson, prompting him to later remark: “I was the best new artist this year.”
Or in 2006 when he disrupted the MTV Europe Music Awards to express his dismay at losing a video award to Justice vs Simian. He’s been acting like a little bitch for 10+ years. Getting with Kim only made him worse.
Big mouth moron that needs a pistol whip? Yes. “Brilliant”?? That’s quite a stretch. Celebrities love to suck each other’s asses.
Madonna talks like a 16 year old
Why doesn’t Madonna say anything about Lupe? He had a song called “Madonna” on his latest album, and lyrically, he’s a “brilliant madman”.
It is really sad that anyone mainly a black man fighting for against the social inequities of justice for their race is labeled a “madman” according to Madonna and so many others. The book, the Language of Oppression speaks to that. Kanye West a man who speaks out to the core of the problems.
I am ashamed that Madonna, as a woman and the struggles that women fought for to allow her to make millions of dollars, something she so quickly forgot, can now criticize West who continue to speak out against the same inequities that women suffered and continue to do so.
She used the adjective “brilliant” to describe West as a madman. How clever.
When the name Madonna was given to you Louise Ciccone, why did you reject it. Like many black historical figures, whites, you are one of them, were used to re position their power in history by the statuesque in the movie and entertainment industry. The historical figure Black Madonna now has a reference point with your new name. Historical figure Cleopatra referenced point,Elizabeth Taylor, Rocky, etc. These actions are strategically planned and thought out by media experts, psychologist about how the mind and memory functions. You were used to be an “eraser” of black history.
You have become very insensitive towards justice and the plight of others, as you have accomplish your goals and continue to “milk” fans, etc. There is no special place to speak out against the injustices that are affecting others. You have done that, during your climb to the top. You are now at your comfort zone and cannot see injustices and its effect on others. You are a looser and an embarrassment to women. Your time for struggles will come again as you have become disconnected to service to humanity
Waaaay too much time on your hands by turning something into a racial and black history issue when it wasn’t there in the first place.
