In response to Kanye West suggesting that Beck “should have given his award to Beyoncé” following the Grammy Awards last Sunday (February 8), Garbage singer Shirley Manson has issued an open letter to the Chicago, Illinois lyricist.

In the letter, which is addressed directly to ‘Ye, Manson states that it’s Kanye who “who is so busy disrespecting artistry.”

She then goes on to explain that the rapper makes himself “look small and petty and spoilt” when it concerns his outbursts. Manson then concludes her letter by informing Kanye that Beyoncé doesn’t need his help fighting any of her battles.

Kanye faced similar criticism in 2009 when he interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Among those who criticized ‘Ye following the debacle were singers Katy Perry and Pink.

“Kanye West is the biggest piece of sh– on earth. Quote me,” Pink said in a series of tweets, according to MTV News. “My heart goes out to Taylor Swift. She is a sweet and talented girl and deserved her moment. She should know we all love her. Beyoncé is a classy lady. I feel for her, too. It’s not her fault at all, and her and Taylor did their thing. And douche bag got kicked out.”

Shirley Manson’s letter to Kanye can be read in its entirety below (via HotNewHipHop):

Dear Kanye West

It is YOU who is so busy disrespecting artistry.

You disrespect your own remarkable talents and more importantly you disrespect the talent, hard work and tenacity of all artists when you go so rudely and savagely after such an accomplished and humble artist like BECK.

You make yourself look small and petty and spoilt.
In attempting to reduce the importance of one great talent over another, you make a mockery of all musicians and music from every genre, including your own.

Grow up and stop throwing your toys around.
You are making yourself look like a complete twat.

Ps.I am pretty certain Beyoncé doesn’t need you fighting any battles on her account. Seems like she’s got everything covered perfectly well on her own.
