Madlib has teased a third collaborative album with Freddie Gibbs while celebrating the 10th anniversary of Piñata.
The rapper-producer duo performed at The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York City on Saturday (May 11) to mark a decade since they released their first album together.

While he was DJing before Gibbs hit the stage, Madlib teased another joint MadGibbs album titled Montana.
“Y’all ready for Freddie Gibbs?” he asked the crowd. “About to drop this live shit on y’all. Montana next up.”

Freddie Gibbs and Madlib were supported on stage by El Michels Affair, along with Clairo on backup vocals and tambourine. The duo played much of Piñata and several songs from their follow-up effort Bandana.
Pink Siifu also opened the show, with other special guests including Armand Hammer, Quelle Chris and lojiii.

Piñata was released in March 2014 and boasted appearances from Raekwon, Scarface, Mac Miller, Earl Sweatshirt, Danny Brown, Ab-Soul, Domo Genesis, BJ The Chicago Kid, Casey Veggies, Meechy Darko and more.
The pair returned in 2019 with Bandana, which featured a similarly stacked lineup including Pusha T, Black Thought, Yasiin Bey, Killer Mike and Anderson .Paak.
Last year, Freddie Gibbs revealed he was working on four new collaborative projects with Madlib, The Alchemist, Boi-1da and an unnamed artist.
“I’ma hit y’all with some shit that y’all thought y’all was ready for, but you really ain’t ready for,” he told XXL. “Alchemist and Madlib ain’t goin’ nowhere, so keep that in mind. And me and Boi-1da in the studio now real, real, real heavy.”

He added: “I’m making the best music of my life, so it’s no reason to stop. And I’m the king of R&B, so I gotta do that album as well.”
