Logic has responded to the backlash he’s received over him doing a cover of Ice Cube’s 1992 hit single “It Was A Good Day.”
On Sunday (March 11), while responding to comments from fans on his TikTok, Logic elaborated on the situation after a fan suggested that he do a cover album on music from the 90s.
“You know it’s funny you should say that,” Logic said. “Um, it’s funny you should say that because I thought about doing that. Wouldn’t that be cool? Everybody’s all pissed off at me because I did a fucking Ice Cube cover. Meanwhile I texted Ice Cube and he’s like, ‘Man, keep on doing you brotha,’ like what the… who gives a fuck. Who gives a fuck.”
He added: “But you know what would be great? Is if, you’re right. I should do a whole fucking album, and just do a whole album of fucking hard ass 90s records and call it Logic Greatest Hits, and get all them paid, and publishing, and take care of all the legends and the goat’s and the great’s from the 90s. And fucking do a covers album, who gives a fuck..whaaat.”

Logic nearly broke the internet when he released a guitar heavy alternative version of Ice Cube’s cult classic song on Monday (March 6) via YouTube. “He makes me dislike him more and more no one asked for this,” one person wrote while another added: “This is different I mess with it.”
After its release, Joe Budden went on The Joe Budden Podcast to express his disdain for both Logic and the cover. He also made sure to mention that Logic should mimic his actions and retire from music.
“Logic, I hate to continue to make a career at your expense,” he began. “I don’t hate it, actually. I’m glad that I have a little list of you that I get to — [laughs] that’s horrible to say. One day I’m gonna grow up.
“Logic, I beg of you, I’m pleading with you: please join me in retirement. Never step near a recording device again! Throw your phone in the ocean! Be allergic to microphones! Promise your fans nothing! Don’t go to the studio ever again! You are the worst, yo! You are really, really bad!”
He added: “And then when we think he can’t get any worse, you have the bright idea of doing an Ice Cube flip.” Budden then went on a rant alongside his co-hosts about Logic’s use of the N-word and his longstanding issues with the rapper.
I’m not even into Logic like that. Getting legends paid of his cover album though, like an uno reverse card. Salutes to Logic for that one. Let him do him, buttons jus a hater, always has been. (No pun intended)
who is he?
I haven’t heard many Logic songs, but no issue with the covers. People have been covering hip hop songs in various different genres for a long time. Cus our shit is the dopest. Budden and whoever has an issue need to get off their own little soap box. I don’t mind Budden and listened to his music, but he sounds close minded and unaware of what’s been going on in the real world forever. Also, I thought the Ice Cube cover was meh, but still no issue with Logic doing it. Lot of people in hip hop gotta grow up.
I don’t hate Logic, but that song was gay as fuck.
I remember when dudes turning up at a Hip Hop show looking like this clown would’ve gotten their chain snatched by some real motherfuckers. It made sure everyone stayed in their lane and played their role correctly. I miss those days…

That was GANGSTER rap. Logic isn’t pretending to be a gangster, like over half of the most famous “gangster” rappers did. Chain snatching? That is shit for thugs who made it big and never gained any intelligence along the way.
Yeah, and I remember back when “women” meant person with a vagina, but since about 2014, it all went to shit. Hell, out newest Supreme Court Justice can’t define the word “woman” because she thinks only a biologist can do that. It’s insanity.
Your the fool homeboy. He just covered a GANGSTER rap song by a legend in that genre and wears big gold chains like he sellin work in the hood. If he turned up like that to a Cube show in the hood back in the 90s he woulda got that shit took for tryna stunt. If he ain’t pretending to be gangster he should respect that shit and stay in his lane as a geek rapper, ain’t nothing wrong with that. This is a big problem in Hip Hop today.
