Lil Wayne To Release “Free Weezy Album”

Despite the ongoing tension between Lil Wayne and his label Cash Money Records, the rapper has chosen to release a free project to fans. The Young Money lyricist took to Twitter early this morning (February 5) to share the news of the free album.

From Wayne’s series of tweets, it was revealed that the project will be titled the Free Weezy Album and will be released “soon.”

“The Free Weezy Album…komin soon#FWA… Free album. Free Weezy season. The Free Weezy Album. #FWA,” Lil Wayne said in two separate tweets.

In regards to the growing saga between Lil Wayne and Cash Money, Weezy is currently suing the label for $51 million. Last month, the full 21-page lawsuit between the two parties surfaced online. A portion of the lawsuit states the following:

“In early December, 2014, Carter delivered to Cash Money the sound recordings comprising the second of the solo albums, entitled ‘Tha Carter V’, provided for by the 2012 Amendment. Although obligated to pay Carter Eight Million Dollars ($8,000,000.00) at the commencement of the recording of ‘Tha Carter V’ and Two Million Dollars ($2,000,000.00) upon delivery of the album, Cash Money breached the 1998 Recording Agreement as amended specifically by the 2012 Amendment, by failing to pay Carter the Eight Million Dollar ($8,000,000.00) payment upon commencement of the recording and paying Carter only Two Million Dollars ($2,000,000.00) over the course of the recording of ‘Tha Carter V’.”

    1. It’s pretty pathetic to keep releasing an album every month saying “I WANNA BE FREE I WANNA BE FREE!!” Point is that Wayne’s got a contract and he’s refusing to live up to it. He won’t have a career anymore after the lawsuit.

      1. You’re either a fucking idiot or a troll “Dan”. He won’t have a career? hahahah he doesn’t need a label to be successful, he has a strong fan base

      2. His relevancy in the mainstream is already on the decline. None of the singles that were released to promote the album picked up any buzz. And when Lil Wayne was at the peak of his popularity, anything he touched turned platinum.

He can rock a decent verse here and there on a feature, but his music is so wack now and played out and that’s the product of laziness and so many drugs that have just fucked him up. To be truthful, Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan are buzzing more than Lil Wayne these days and that’s just embarrassingly bad for mainstream hip hop.

“Lil Wayne, should you be reading these words, I will say to you that the music is just not there for you anymore. You had one helluva run. Made a lot of money. Lived the lavish life. But you ain’t got it no more. It’s time to put the mic down and focus on promoting new talent.”

      3. Look AR ^ The Carter 5 was supposed to be the hottest album to come out this year, And also was the most buzzed about album. So i don’t know where you come from or even get your info from my friend. clearly these videos is all you watch bud, no knowledge about the topic at all.

      4. AR’s right. the younger dudes get more airtime, RHQ and young thug are the new wave, wayne was the man but it’s not 2009 anymore, he’s on the way out.

    2. Some people don’t know when to quit. Lil Wayne is the prime example.

His last project was a joke. You wanna talk about a disaster, listen to Sorry For The Wait 2. This dude is on a non-stop roll of putting out trash albums and many continue to support this clown as if he’s a good representation of the new generation in rap… No wonder old schoolers think this generation is a joke. Stop supporting this shit and I guarantee you this clown will disappear for good and never record music again.

      1. Obviously youre just a hater. S4TW2 was FIRE my nigga.

I bet youre the typa nigga that listens to Talib Kweli or Lecrae.

        Fuck outta here.

      2. ^^^ ummmmmmmmmm

are you trying to insult the many by saying the listens to kweli or lecrae over wayne.. u need to kill yourself, then reincarnate to the womb only to be aborted again.

    3. Wow! Wayne really cares about his fans unlike stuck up, old ass rappers like GAY-Z, KanGAY West and KenDICK LAME-ar.

2015 belongs to Weezy, like it or not. This nigga right here…this nigga right here makes me some typa way.

      FREE WEEZY ALBUM!

      YM!

      ALL HAIL KING WEEZY!

    4. baby been fuckin over ppl for years i still am amazing ppl sign 2 birdman and diddy. all they do its screw ppl over and blackball em..why?

    5. Cash money is in a lose-win situation with Lil’ Wayne, if he manages to leave, it’d be an awful blow to CM, and they know that, on the other hand, when the Carter V drops, which it ultimately would, it’ll be received warmly by weezy’s stans and it would surely move enough units to cover up production as well as that Carter V tour with all the merch sales etc. And with him trying to get his cash cows out of CM with him which is somewhat probable, that’ll be the final blow for CM, they can’t seriously rely on Thugger Thug, dunno if RHQ is officially signed yet, but both of them can’t move numbers the way weezy did and would continue to. He’s certainly not a drake or 1D when it comes to record sales currently, but weezy can still move more units than both RHG and YT combined.

    6. After all this hullabaloo, this Carter V better be the greatest album ever made. I feel like this is all a conspiracy just to market the album

    7. Weezy, its coo your giving us free music and all, but releasing more trash is not really helping your case. Just call it a career. You’ve been cooked for a long time now.
