XXL Rounds Up 25 Cash Money Artists Who Never Released An Album On The Label

Although Lil Wayne brought a great deal of attention to Cash Money Records late last year when he revealed that the label was stalling the release of Tha Carter V, the rapper doesn’t serve as the only artist to encounter album issues while at the label.

According to a list recently compiled by XXLMag.com, well over two dozen artists never released an album while signed to Cash Money. Among the artists featured on the publication’s “25 Cash Money Artists Who Never Released An Album While On The Label” list are Busta Rhymes, Gudda Gudda, and Cory Gunz.

Busta Rhymes signed with Cash Money in 2012 and left shortly after in 2014. XXL explains that despite Busta’s next studio album, Extinction Level Event 2, being in the making during the rapper’s time at Cash Money, “the move didn’t help much” since “the label wasn’t fully rocking with Rhymes’ project.”

Another artist who has yet to release an album while at Cash Money is rapper-turned-television host Bow Wow. Although he signed to Cash Money since 2009, Bow has never released a studio album while on the label. The Columbus, Ohio-born musician’s last album, New Jack City II was released months before he signed with Cash Money.

XXL reports that Bow Wow sent out a series of tweets similar to that of Tyga and Lil Wayne’s back in 2012 when he stated:

“Doing everything on my own. No help from nobody. Going to radio dolo going to da clubs fuk’n wit dj’s dolo. So when i win im thankn myself. Sh** so fucked up maaan.. I swear. Im tryna stay focused but its like at this point ‘Fuck that album’ & Fuck a release date. Im doin shows….”

    1. not to mention all the young money artists wayne scooped up. lol When’s that new Chanel West Coast album droppin?

    2. And pretty much all of them are either still working on their classics or got too greedy and got their asses kicked out. No artist that left cash money found success afterwards.

      1. GTFOH. None of fhem are working on classics. They’re either not doing shit or they have been shelved. Face it, Cash Money only cares about Wayne, Drake, and Nicki because they’re the only ones making the label any money.

      2. It won’t go in forever, it will fall. Wayne was the reason Cash Money blew up and Drake and Nicki will help Wayne instead of Cash Money.

    3. Game is lucky he aint sign his life away. Year of The Wolf would have flopped on CM.

    4. It won’t go in forever, it will fall. Wayne was the reason Cash Money blew up and Drake and Nicki will help Wayne instead of Cash Money.” Wayne may have been the biggest act on cash money (when his brothers on hot boys along with mannie fresh became disloyal) but there has been many more acts on cash money since. Drake and Nicki are both locked to contracts with cash money and both support cash money. Unless they want lawsuits, they will stay at cash money.

      1. And none of the other acts who aren’t Drake and Nicki Minaj (who aren’t locked in contracts with CM and they support Wayne and Young Money, not Cash Money) are as big as Wayne (The Hot Boys and Mannie Fresh weren’t disloyal and they aren’t brothers).

      2. The other acts are still taking their time to make classics. Nicki has 3 more albums left on her contract and drake also supports cash money.

      3. Please. Some of these artists were signed years ago and haven’t released shit. They’re not making classics, they’re being lazy. You don’t know anyone’s contracts and Drake supports Young Money, not Cash Money.

    5. And even if wayne somehow brainwashes drake and nicki, birdman has many, many more acts. Young Thug is blowing up pretty quick and rich homie quan’s another rising artist. That’s in addition to bow wow, austin mahone, and more.

      1. Young Thug? Rich Homie Quan? LOL they’re not even signed to Cash Money. Young Thug ain’t blowing up and RHQ ain’t rising, they don’t even have hits by themselves. Bow Wow can barely get any music out and you can forget about Austin Mahone, who’s nothing more than a Bieber clone. Outside of Nicki, Drake, and Wayne, Cash Money got nobody.

      2. They are signed to their management label. And both will be signed soon. And Lifestyle is a huge hit making the top 20. Bow Wow is releasing in album this year and austin mahone is popular. My stepsister talks about him all the time. Cash money doing fine. Wayne’s career is over.

      3. They’re not signed to Cash Money and they won’t be. That shitty Lifestyle song isn’t huge and is not even their song. Bow Wow is not gonna release anything this year and Austin Mahone is not popular. Nobody is talking about that Bieber wannabe, so what you say about your “stepsister” is a lie. Cash Money isn’t fine, they’re over. Drake and Nicki worship Wayne, they’ll never be pissed about him, the only one pissed is you. How did he betray his fans? He never did.

      4. They’re not signed to Cash Money and they won’t be. (Yes they are) That shitty Lifestyle song isn’t huge and is not even their song. (Rich Gang consists of them and birdman) Bow Wow is not gonna release anything this year and Austin Mahone is not popular. (Bow Wow is doing fine and Mahone is only getting more popular) Nobody is talking about that Bieber wannabe, so what you say about your “stepsister” is a lie. Cash Money isn’t fine, they’re over. (They still in business so they are fine) Drake and Nicki worship Wayne, they’ll never be pissed about him (they are also huge birdman fans and all the support i have seen is to cash money), the only one pissed is you. How did he betray his fans? He never did. (He disrespected the culture.)

      5. (Yes they are) They’re not. (Rich Gang consists of them and birdman) Doesn’t change what I’ve said. (Bow Wow is doing fine and Mahone is only getting more popular) No, Bow Wow isn’t doing fine and Mahone is never gonna get popular. He’ll forever be a Bieber clone. (They still in business so they are fine) Cash Money isn’t doing fine, either. (they are also huge birdman fans and all the support i have seen is to cash money) No, they’re not. And all the support you saw is to Young Money. (He disrespected the culture.) The only culture he disrespected is hip-hop by making terrible music, which the rest of Young Money/Cash Money are also guilty of.

    6. So teethboy is saying that Cash Money Records is like a Communist country where freedom doesn’t exist and Birdman is the dictator. Makes sense.

      1. They’re not pop stars. You can’t even back up that statement with evidence. Pop stars is what the artists you like are.

    7. Cash Money is taking the same approach as their partners Universal Records…If you can get hot on your own then we will support you…If not then you will become a damn tax write-off! Learn the game people who sign…It’s not that hard!!

    8. HHDX doesn’t have any good editors so they need to make a little revenue and provide a link to another editor that wrote the actual article. HHDX SUCKS

    9. Interesting list. They should make one for people signed to Aftermath, Death Row and Rocafella but never released albums. I know a lot of them just up and left though.

    10. Unless Birdman bought young thug’s contract out, he’s still signed to the label Migos is signed to. I think 1017, gucci’s label might still get a percentage of his sales no matter what label he’s signed to also.

    11. they left out the best mc cash money signed Mikkey Halsted that guy got serious bars n they never did shit with him
