Lil Wayne Links Up With U2’s Bono For ‘Tha Carter VI’

Lil Wayne has finally dropped Tha Carter VI and its tracklist features an unexpected guest in the form of U2 lead singer, Bono.

The two link up on the anthemic “The Days” which was previously debuted during a promo for the NBA Finals.

On the track, Wayne references his status as an elder statesman in Hip Hop, rapping: “I ain’t getting younger, but I’m getting better / No time to waste that’s another man’s treasure / They say every dog has hit day.”

While Bono, who has previously worked with Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West, sings: “The time of our lives / The time of our youth / We bow down to beauty and truth / These are the days.”

Tha Carter VI is Wayne’s first solo album in five years and the first in his Tha Carter series since 2018.

The 19 track project features an array of guest artists including 2 Chainz, Kodak Black, Machine Gun Kelly and Big Sean.

Tha Carter VI also features more eclectic artists such as opera singer Andrea Bocelli, country star Jelly Roll and Fugees legend Wyclef Jean.

Fans were hoping that Wayne was going to reunite with Drake and Nicki Minaj on the project but no song featuring the Young Money trio made the album.

Weezy recently unveiled a new roster of Young Money talent as he looks to push the label into a modern new era.

In a new episode of his Young Money radio show on Apple Music, Wayne introduced and re-introduced all of his new artists, which also includes Jay Jones, Allan Cubas, Domiio, Poppy and Lucifena.

A trio of artists who have been with the label for years – Lil Twist, Cory Gunz and Euro – also remain with the storied label that was once home to Drake and Minaj as well as Tyga, DJ Khaled and Kidd Kidd.

None of the current crop of Young Money artists feature on Tha Carter VI.

Wayne will celebrate the release of the new album by performing his first ever headline solo concert at Madison Square Gardens in New York tonight (June 6) before going on a nationwide tour later this year.

    1. UMG ruined this album taking Ye off and his production! This was supposed to be a 30 track album. Wyclef was in charge of production? Horrible! UMG did this to hurt Wayne more its clear he’s being dragged to prop Kendrick since Jay still hates Wayne. Free Wayne from UMG! Mannie Fresh only produced 1 song on the album he should have had the most songs! Drake was probably supposed to be on this but they cut him. Hope he wins that lawsuit.

      1. The fact that you like Wayne, drake and Kanye makes you the gayest muffucka that I’ve ever seen in my entire life and I’ve met great greg’s dad.

    2. Goddamn this album sucks 🤣 Son needs to hang it up. He’s washed and stuck in 2009/2010 and this is more Rebirth type shit.

    3. Why put a 60 something year old washed up rock star in a rap song in 2025? Absolutely nobody asked for this

      1. And nobody else will work with Drake outside his own artist at OvHoe. He’s got the ✡️ Attorney Coalition going full force on UMG which is ironic cuz he bullied other on that label to not allow them to drop disses towards him but since he finally got blew out of the water he’s in full blown crybaby karen mode and is lashing out at everyone.

    4. someone must have convinced lil wayne this was a good idea to have bono around i already knew he was going down this track i was like wtf

    5. This album is terrible. Cant believe Wayne put this in the Carter series. Track no 2 is the only good one. And its not a great one.

    6. I was enjoying it up to and including The Days. Everything after that was atrocious. It’s a shame because I do try to find the good in music but this was like he had half a good album and then bolted on some rushed throwaway filler. In a low of ways it reminded me of Eminem’s Encore. Good for the first third and then after that you’re left wondering “what the f is this?!”. I get the impression he was making The Carter and a Rebirth type album at the same time and decided glue them together.

    7. A Black musician pandering to White people while making Black music will usually end up appealing to no one. Folks want authenticity. Bono on a a Lil Wayne album and Jellyroll on a Snoop album are the opposite of that. And the people have responded accordingly to both. 👎🏽
