Lil Uzi Vert‘s loyal fanbase has seemingly grown tired of the constant delays surrounding the rapper’s Pink Tape, prompting the rapper’s producer to explain the situation.
The Philly rapper has been teasing their highly-anticipated project for years — it would be their first project since 2020’s Eternal Atake.

The latest update came from DJ Drama in April who said the project was in its “final stages” during his appearance on the Justin Credible Podcast. However, that didn’t satisfy fans, and now the rapper’s producer has clarified what the status of the project is.
Uzi’s producer, Lyle, noted on Instagram that they’re not rushing the project because they want to make sure it’s a “classic” and not a ‘bunch of random songs.”

Lyle also revealed that Uzi has been recording five songs per day “for the most part,” and that they’re getting “better and better” as each day goes on. This also has played a part in the lengthy wait for the album as “it’s hard to scale down 1500+ songs to an album.”
Check out the producer’s message below:
Uzi’s now-iconic “Just Wanna Rock” dance track that dropped last October and peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, is expected to appear on the forthcoming project.
Aside from preparing to release their next album, the rapper was tapped by Metro Boomin, to appear on the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse soundtrack, along with several other heavy hitters like Future and JID.
The superproducer unveiled his collaborators by sharing illustrated comic book caricatures of his guests via social media last year. In addition to the aforementioned, fans can expect appearances from Swae Lee, Nav, Don Toliver, Coi Leray, James Blake, Beam and Toian.
When it comes to developments in Uzi’s personal life, back in April they introduced their new nonbinary alter-ego, Leslie. Fans, however, didn’t seem to appreciate the new look.

Despite this, Uzi quickly reacted to their critics. Apparently, it was inspired by Hangover character Leslie Chow, played by Ken Jeong.
“Chow understand people always don’t like ways of Chow,” Uzi wrote on their Instagram Stories at the time. “But Chow don’t give af Chow rich and never look back ….. Suck my monkey tail LESLIE OUT.”
