Lil Durk and NBA YoungBoy’s beef may not be over just yet.
Reports of a truce between the warring rap stars surfaced on Thursday (May 4) when Akademiks claimed on a recent live stream that they’ve buried the hatchet.

“That beef is squashed. You ain’t hear?” the Off the Record podcast host said during a conversation with another streamer. “I’m serious. Durk and YoungBoy don’t have beef no more.”
Durk seemingly verified Akademiks’ comments by liking a tweet from an NBA YoungBoy fan account sharing the news.

Just hours later, however, the Chicago native cast doubt on the so-called truce by sending out a subliminal message on his Instagram Stories that read: “I ain’t friends with no n-ggas [unamused face emoji] stop it.”
He has also since unliked the aforementioned tweet, while adding in a since-deleted tweet of his own: “Fuck you [and] who you came with.”
NBA YoungBoy also seemingly disputed Akademiks’ claim by taking aim at the media personality in a series of since-deleted tweets from his personal Twitter account.
“Ak you a bitch along with his industry friends I love this shit it turn out the same way every time,” he wrote from his @BAEHELPTOP handle.
“Ak a fat hoe,” he added in another tweet.

Akademiks also backtracked on his original comments, clarifying in an Instagram comment that he simply meant Durk and YoungBoy aren’t “actively dissing each other” anymore.
“Lol I ain’t say that,” he wrote. “I mean they ain’t actively dissing each other no more in music and tweets anything y’all see is more than likely directed at other ppl instead of each other.”
Lil Durk and NBA YoungBoy’s long-simmering feud ignited last year when they traded shots at each other on wax. Durk unloaded a barrage of ominous warnings aimed at YoungBoy and his Never Broke Again crew on “AHHH HA,” to which the Baton Rouge native returned fire with “I Hate YoungBoy.”
“‘YoungBoy, they gon’ kill you, you better stop dissin’ them’/ Tell them n-ggas, ‘Fuck ’em’ and they know that I ain’t scared of them/ How you talkin’ shit when nothin’ ain’t died about your cousin’nem?” YoungBoy taunted, referencing Durk’s late relative OTF Nunu.
The Last Slimeto rapper also took aim at Smurk’s then-fiancée India Royale, along with Gucci Mane, who had recently worked with the OFT frontman on “Rumors.”
The pair’s bitter feud is believed to stem from the November 2020 murder of King Von, Lil Durk’s close friend and collaborator. Von was allegedly killed by an affiliate of Quando Rondo, who is signed to NBA YoungBoy’s Never Broke Again label, during a confrontation between their respective crews in Atlanta.

While things have cooled off since their war of words last year, both rappers remain competitive musically. NBA YoungBoy recently released his sixth studio album Don’t Try This At Home, which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, powered by features from Nicki Minaj, Post Malone and more.
Lil Durk, meanwhile, is gearing up to drop his eagerly anticipated The Voice 2.0 LP, which will boast at least one heavyweight collaboration with J. Cole. Smurk is also looking to land a duet with SZA in hopes of harnessing her hitmaking prowess.
