Lil Durk is attempting to woo LeBron James to the Chicago Bulls by offering to pay a significant chunk of his salary.

James, who currently plays for the Los Angeles Lakers but is expected to test free agency this summer, is going to have no shortage of suitors for his talents, but Durk has perhaps the most unique pitch.

The Chi-Town rapper made his plea to the NBA legend, as well as his son Bronny who has declared himself for the 2024 NBA Draft, directly via Instagram and later posted a screenshot of their conversation.

In private messages to LBJ, Durk wrote: “You and Bronny come to Chicago Bulls shid i’ll pay you if I got to.”

He added: “Idc if I got to go half @chicagobulls it’s time [trophy emoji].”

While the Bulls have not publicly expressed an interest in acquiring LeBron or his son Bronny, who remains a relatively unproven prospect with just 25 games of college ball under his belt, Durk is eager to bring the league’s all-time leading scorer to his hometown team.

The Bulls haven’t won an NBA championship since 1998 during Michael Jordan’s dominant reign, while LeBron proved in 2020 that he was the missing piece to end a historic franchise’s drought when he brought the Larry O’Brien Trophy back to Los Angeles for the first time in a decade.

Whether he still possesses that ability at age 39 is up for debate, although he did finish the 2023/24 season averaging over 25 points, eight assists and seven rebounds in over 35 minutes a game.

The respect is mutual between the pair as LeBron James previously crowned Lil Durk the rapper with the best basketball skills.

Speaking on an episode of The Shop, James said: “Lil Durk can hoop. He can hoop for real. Man, he [at] Lifetime hooping. He got a fucking canon, too. He got a peel, and he look like a muthafucka that can [ball].”

The OTF frontman later caught wind of the praise and reposted the clip to Instagram along with the caption: “I don’t want to hear shit nomo from nobody lol let’s go @kingjames.”

Durk’s basketball skills have also been praised by Kevin Durant after the former MVP saw social media clips of the rapper on the court.
