Lil Baby is not a fan of 2022’s It’s Only Me, despite the commercial success the chart-topping album saw.

In his new cover story for Complex published on Wednesday (January 15), Baby admitted that he was feeling pressure from his record label at the time and ended up releasing something he didn’t really feel any connection to at all.

“I didn’t even want to put It’s Only Me out at the time, because I wasn’t ready,” he said. “I wasn’t in [the right] headspace. Those were songs I was just making, but it was nothing that I really loved, and nothing I even really liked.”

Yet and still, It’s Only Me became Baby’s third consecutive platinum album as well as his third consecutive album to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

He followed suit with the recently-released WHAM, which topped the Billboard 200 for the week ending January 18, ahead of Bad Bunny, SZA, Kendrick Lamar and Sabrina Carpenter.

The LP arrived on January 3, and features appearances from Travis ScottFutureYoung Thug, GloRillaRod WaveRylo and 21 Savage. And already, Lil Baby has yet another new album on the way.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday (January 12), Baby shared the impressive stats for WHAM and added in the caption: “See yall Again in a couple weeks ‘Dominique’ The Album 2-?-25.”

When making the announcement that both albums would come in 2025 while appearing on on Lil Yachty‘s A Safe Place podcast in December, the Atlanta native explained how they would differ.

“I still put some of the songs I was gonna use for Dominique on WHAM ’cause I know my fanbase really want to hear them certain songs,” he explained. “WHAM is more me on some young n-gga shit — fast cars, girls, jewelry, money. You know, the turnt lifestyle.”

Baby continued: “And Dominique is more the serious me, more personal. That’s a part of the new journey I’m on. I hate the word vulnerable, but I’m gonna be more open to my fans and my audience.”’
