KXNG Crooked Announces Slaughterhouse Departure

KXNG Crooked has cut ties with Slaughterhouse. The West Coast lyricist revealed he’s left the supergroup, which hasn’t released an album since 2012’s Welcome To Our House.

“I’m no longer a part of Slaughterhouse,” he said in a video uploaded on Instagram. “I’m no longer a part of that collective. It ain’t no beef. It’s all love. I wish them dudes nothing but success. I mean that. Ain’t no problems with Shady. I love Shady … What they do for me and what they continue to do for me, I’m very appreciative.”

Slaugterhouse’s inactivity as a group prompted Crooked to officially announced his departure. The veteran MC laughed when discussing the collective’s long-rumored Glass House album, saying he’d retweet it if it ever drops.

“I’ve been sober for two years,” he noted. “Let me tell you a secret. Sober Crook likes to rap. Group ain’t rapping no more and that’s fine. It was fun while it lasted. Glass House, I have no clue. All I can tell you [is] it exists. If it comes out, I’ll retweet it. Other than that, it’s all love. Everybody who supported me in Slaughterhouse, thank you.”

The future of Slaughterhouse has been bleak since Joe Budden stepped away from rap and carved out a new career as an online personality. Last year, the inability to release Glass House prompted some public disputes between the group members.

    1. That’s too bad but Crooked is dope. Bars for days. He’s had a successful career and he’ll continue to shine on his own.

      1. It definitely was Budden. Slaughterhouse was dope but they haven’t released shit in forever anyway. I’ll have to check out the next crooked I solo album

      2. Doubtful. Probably got sick of waiting for a completed album to get released by Shady Records. Honestly may be the reason Joe “retired” as well. Can’t make money off rap if no one will release your music.

        1. Budden was in charge of glass house while dealing with personal issues. So yeah, Crooked prolly got tired of dealing with him.

    2. KXNG Crooked one of the best in the game hands down cant wish dude but the best looking forward hearing some fire bars over some dope beats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    3. I give the guy credit for putting up with Joe Budden as long as he did. No amount of money could be worth it.

    4. I don’t think it was Budden. Shady Records is wack!! Em doesn’t promote these guys as much as he should! …. Where were they on Revival??

    5. Crook’s inability to blow up has been the most perplexing hip hop career to me over the last 20 years. There are plenty of hot guys with a buzz that didn’t pop mainstream like a Saigon or Ras Kass back in the day, but I can see the headwinds they were facing in the industry to lead to that but not him. He could make club hits. He could do conscience rap. He could do battle raps. Whatever you want on the mike. Those Hip Hop Weekly freestyles were dope as hell. Dude is the total package. I do think sticking with Death Row through their decline and move to the wackness that was producers like Jim Get Em and Darren Vegas was an issue, but I just never got why this guy didn’t hit at some point because the first time I heard him on a track when he was doing shit with Snoop and his boys, he stood the hell out and always had, even in Slaughterhouse to where I’d say who the fuck is that spittin’.

      1. good point, that’s what i’ve been thinking too. but i think the reason why he hasnt blown up is because most of his content doesnt have much replay value. a lotta his stuff is just him spitting quickly which is impressive, but not too relatable. if u compare his lyrics with those of jay-z or eminem’s it becomes very clear

        1. Even with that though, back when he was early on with Death Row, he had some songs that were catchy and had replay value. I get what you’re saying with some of his later work since then, but he had some classic type shit that continued the legacy of Death Row just good ass sounding music before those in house producers changed around 2002 or so because like I said, Jim Get Em and Darrin Vegas just were not what was up. He had some classic drop the top and ride type West Coast smooth joints back then with his superior lyrics on tracks and had a redo of Nas and R. Kelly’s Did You Ever Think song that was way better than that one, which was catchy as hell. He had a club banging ass sounding hit but with rapping and not mumbling or repeating two or three words. He had a lot of good shit early on at Death Row. Because I remember hearing that shit on leaks and was like oh yeah, Death Row is about to be on again if they ride this dude. It was like a more talented Snoop in his prime was how I was feeling about him circa 2000 and early 2001.

    6. Signing to Shady is a potential career killer, like aftermath. If you’re not the top act on the label, ie Em or Dre, Interscope ain’t pushing your shit. I’m amazed Yelawolf has managed to release as much material as he has over the years, but nobody else on the label has. Label shelved Slaughterhouses album, and nobody gets to release another album on the same label after they’ve shelved one for you. If they wanted to release something it would need to be independent, and they’re afraid to walk away from Shady.

Doesn’t matter in the end, nobody was buying their album anyway and they never managed to craft a style of their own, they were just good MC’s on a track together. I don’t even know if they ever really went on tour together to promote anything Slaughterhouse related. If they did it was only in the beginning.

      1. They were selling as much as these new mumble rappers these days. Interscope could release it Friday and get nearly 100k by Monday, and maybe a 1 million listens across all streaming platform within a week time. I don’t understand a shelved album and waste that type of money making it.

    7. Crooked I ruined his career whe he aligned himself with Suge against Snoop. Crooked being from Long Beach and gking against Snoop was career suicide. Snoop dissed him on the Welcomw to the Church mixtape back in the early 00s. When Snoop hosted the Wescoast Summit he made peace with everyone he had beef with, except Crooked I. Without the backing of the Westocaoast collenctive’Crooked’s career languished. Slaighterhouse was his revival. Now its really over

    8. They said glass house was too dark to drop. Y does that matter? They all dropped dark stuff. Should have dropped that when people kept talking about it. Salty

    9. Everyone saying that slaughterhouse would of been better independent… the fuck you guys talking about these fools almost signed to strange music. How many fucking albums would they have out right now if they were signed to tech? As many as they would want.

    10. RIP, Shadys like the Dr Kevorkian of record labels. Want to stall your career? Sign with Shady/Aftermath

    11. Did Griselda make a mistake moving to Shady? Seems like they have the freedom to release tapes independently, but they must owe the label a few projects, right? Does anyone know if Gunn’s upcoming Chris Benoit album is a Shady release?

    12. Crooked i WestCoast to the fullest. As lyrics fall to the wasteside. Midget lips lead to mumble raps. Hip2theHop use to be a struggle, a protest to anything White America AkA a Corporation. Now RAP seems mainstream, even the forefathers of RAP are following along like sheep. Sell Yo Soul For That Jelly Roll, 4 nothing is sacred anymo. Flip A Bird to the Hammer Dance I am truly hurt by this announcement. Every little bit of true hip2thehop is slowly dying in Nipsey Hussle’s wake, i will go on praying in hopes of a downfall of mumble rap.
