Kodak Black is facing amended charges in his latest drug case after new test results indicate he was in possession of Oxycodone, not cocaine, during his arrest last month.

According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, prosecutors are now charging the 26-year-old with one count of Oxycodone possession and one count of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.

When police officers found him passed out behind the wheel in Plantation, Florida last month, he was caught trying to hide a white powder by stuffing it into his mouth.

When the substance field-tested positive for cocaine, he was arrested but never formally charged for said narcotic. Kodak formally pleaded not guilty and requested a trial by jury.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday (January 9), the rapper’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, mentioned the results of the lab report while claiming that his client has a prescription for Oxycodone.

“This was not cocaine and the officer was lying about his observations. We finally got the lab report…its oxycodone that Kodak had a prescription for and not an illegal substance,” he wrote.

“Knowing that the officer substantially misrepresented his observations, the Broward State Atty Office still filed the charged. Unbelievable and it will not be tolerated. This level of abuse of power by the arresting officer is disgusting. We will be seeking a new bond hearing and addressing these unethical practices by the police department.”

Paula McMahon, who is a representative of the State Attorney’s Office, has stated that prosecutors “will review any documentation the defense wants to send over.”

Soon after the arrest in December, Kodak Black made numerous confessions about his drug usage on Instagram Live and also claimed to have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on rehab.

Addressing his arrest, Yak said: “I was on the lean, homie. I was asleep in front of my family house, bro. That’s it. That ain’t illegal.”

He went on to call the arrest “bogus” and took issue with his mugshot being “plastered all over the internet.”

In the rambling broadcast, Kodak also denied taking cocaine, saying: “Come on, fam. Hell fuck no, bruh. Hell nah. And I ain’t finna say I’m against muthafuckas who do coke. Man, I ain’t on that shit.”

He then admitted to abusing Percocet, which he says was prescribed to him after he was shot in the leg in February 2022.

“I’ll tell God himself I do Percs and shit like that, but them was my medicine prescribed to me. Even before I got shot and I had got prescribed to them again, I could say that I had started damn abusing [them],” he said.

In a separate incident in July 2022, Kodak Black was charged with drug trafficking after authorities found 31 pills alleged to be Oxycodone in his possession along with more than $70,000 in cash.

He has since claimed through his lawyer that he is the victim of a police cover-up. In a motion to dismiss the case, the rapper claimed that the Oxycodone he was accused of possessing and trafficking was just Tylenol that had been obtained over the counter.

Kodak also accused the Broward County Sheriff’s Office of conspiring against him, singling out FBI Special Agent James Mitchell.
