Kodak Black’s substance abuse problem has become increasingly evident as his conduct has repeatedly raised concerns over the past few months — unfortunately, he has now been taken into police custody for drug possession.

On Thursday (December 7), NBC Miami reported that the 26-year-old rapper was booked into the Broward County Jail after being caught with cocaine in Plantation, Florida. Records show that he is also being charged with improperly parking or stopping a vehicle and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.

Though no other details about the incident have been released to the public at this time, it’s worth noting that the “Super Gremlin” hitmaker was charged with drug trafficking last July after authorities found 31 pills alleged to be oxycodone in his possession plus more than $70,000 in cash.

He has since claimed through his lawyer that he is the victim of a police cover-up. In a motion to dismiss the case, the rapper claims that the oxycodone he was accused of possessing and trafficking was just Tylenol that had been obtained over the counter, according to TMZ.

Kodak, who is represented by Bradford Cohen, has accused the Broward County Sheriff’s Office of conspiring against him, singling out FBI Special Agent James Mitchell for being biased against the rapper.

Cohen has also accused prosecutors of attempting to withhold bodycam footage that shows the authorities surveilling Kodak and allegedly saying he’s “always ready” as the camera looks at his gun.

The legal practitioner also pointed out that the pills were tested and destroyed despite never being provided with a report. As part of the plea for dismissing the case, he claimed that the charges were part of a “coordinated takedown” of his client.

Kodak Black has a history of run-ins with the law, having spent time in prison over the last decade on multiple occasions for things such as drug charges, gun possession and assault.

He also took a plea deal in his sexual assault case, pleading guilty to first-degree assault and battery in 2021 and receiving 18 months on probation. Kodak’s most notable legal case is his 2020 imprisonment for firearms possession, the sentence for which was later commuted by Donald Trump on his last day as president.
