‘Knife Talk’ Rapper Project Pat Throws Monkeywrench In ‘Migos Copied Three 6 Mafia’ Debate

There’s been a ton of talk over the years about the originators of the “triplet flow” in Hip Hop. Some champion the Migos while others point to groups such as Three 6 Mafia and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony.

Project Pat was asked about the Migos potentially ripping off the late Lord Infamous’ flow by VladTV On Friday (November 12) but he doesn’t see it that way.

“If you say that, you’d have to say when Lord came out, that was somebody else’s flow,” he explained. “People listen to rap and put their twist on it. I’ve heard people say that about Migos, but they really got their own flow… I can’t really say they got it from there but it has similarities.”

The Memphis native then set the record straight regarding a scenario if a new rapper sounded like him, he wouldn’t even trip because he “don’t got time for that” and it’s not the “Knife Talk” rapper’s style to rain on somebody else’s parade who’s getting money.

Migos' Style Was ‘Stolen’ By Entire Music Industry Says David Banner

Meanwhile, during an interview with Bleacher Report‘s Taylor Rooks in September, Quavo crowned the Migos as the undisputed pioneer of the triplet flow in Hip Hop.

“The triplet flow, for sure,” Huncho said. “Wasn’t nobody doin’ it before we came in and right now, everybody’s doing it. It’s a blessing. The triplet flow, the cadence, the flippin’ it, whippin’ it. That’s what everybody love to this day… 2014, I was the most influential rapper.”

    1. Pat on some b.s saying migos got their own flow dude stop it. They got some of their flow from Bone Thugs, Crucial Conflict, Do or die etc.

    2. Nothing about migos style is original, they did they thing though. But they should pay homage to Lord Infamous. Bone. and Twista

    3. Migos are correct they created a flow that changed the game. They are a trio and come together to rap as one, The “Triplet flow” is theirs to claim. No one rapper raps like Quavo, Offset or Takeoff

    4. Gansta Boo was the best rapper in 3-6. they had the best production too 90’s had some much talent. a cat name
T-rock that rap with them was cold.I wish he blew

    5. When it comes to rapping fast no matter what you call it triplet flow, double time, flipping. The first name always brought up first will
always be Bone Thugs N Harmony. No matter if someone does it better or did it first, they were the ones that popularized it,they made it mainstream. Someone may have came out before them rapping fast and had some success but no one consistently went platinum rapping fast until they did. Even Ye on drink champs talks about the style, mentioning Jay using it on a track and that being the separation between Jay and Nas, Jay ability to be able to do it and Nas couldn’t. Ye called it the Bone Thugs style.

      1. I’m from Tennessee and three 6 came out out a little before vine rapping fast and that’s y the had beef cause they came out sounding like three 6 and tommy wright the 3rd then they end up squashing the beef and three 6 was famous back then everybody knew and grew up off three 6 mafia

    6. People don’t really care we just get annoyed when someone like Taylor Rooks tries to give a rapper credit for something she
is absolutely clueless about, just for the sake of appeasing them.

    7. Of course Pat gonna say that, him and Juice put three six behind them. They rather work with Migos then anyone from three six.

        1. M4L seems to be right anytime Pat is asked about the Mafia it seems he doesn’t want to be affiliated with them. Pat cool but without Three six mafia he wouldn’t be who he is.

            1. It’s cause Paul and Juice got a lil beef going. Crunchy Black said in an interview that it’s because they both claim to be the reason three six mafia was successful. That’s why Juice don’t really mess with Paul anymore.

            2. That’s crazy IMO they both are just as much of the reason though I feel paul kinda like the true mastermind of the group. I been felt that they had some kind of beef. Suckd that Juice ain’t doing songs with Paul as I like his style. However Paul and the Mafia go hard without Juicy

    8. the pioneer of the triplet flow is Chuck D. he did it in the second verse of PE’s ‘Bring the Noise’. first rapper to rhyme in triplets against a 4/4 measure.

    9. Give credit where credit dew, me coming up the best at the Triplet flow hands down; Do-or Die & Twista , Bone Thugs Three Six Mafia in that order

    10. You all youngins don’t know your history. Their flows are elementary. Migos didn’t invent anything.
Listen to Kool G Rap, Big Pun, Jaz O, early Jay Z, and you’ll hear the flow.

    11. The D.O.C., Big Daddy Kane, Twista, Fu Snickeins, even JJ Fad dabbled with the fast flow long before the Migos could spell rap.

      1. The realest comment on here. I was coming to the comment section to write that exact thing. This man has dropped some gems and is connected with some of the hottest joints in 3-6 and UGK history and they give him a Drake plug. Come the f on. Do better.

    12. “I’mma introduce me, Project Pat I keep it real – I’mma introduce you, you a sucka fakin deals – If you gonna let these freaky hoes run yo life – I don’t understand how you turn a freak into a wife.” Man I got so much respect for Pat for droppin this gem on em. I almost wifed a freak and these lines saved my life.
