Kid Cudi has unveiled plans to diversify his portfolio with a “secret show” that will see him take a page from Eddie Murphy’s playbook.
In a post on X on Sunday (March 31), the rapper/actor revealed he’s been diligently writing a new TV comedy series that will see him play a number of different characters à la Murphy in The Nutty Professor franchise.

“Been writin the 1st season of this secret show im workin on. Really cant wait for yall to see this. Ive been lookin to do a series for a long time, a role that taps into all my strengths, especially the comedy. This shit is mad funny and has a ton of heart. U will love this. In a follow-up post, he said: “Im also playin multiple characters. I grew up watchin Eddie do it and always had that dream. This will be fuckin madness i cant wait [sunglasses smiley face emoji].”

When a fan asked who will be starring alongside him in the show, Cudi teased an appearance from fellow rapper and longtime collaborator King Chip (formerly Chip Tha Ripper).
“Def got a role for @kingchip hes gonna fuckin crush it,” he replied. “Not sure who else, I wanna put some new energy on that we havent seen before.”

Kid Cudi is no stranger to screenwriting having created the 2022 Netflix animated special Entergalactic alongside Ian Edelman, Maurice Williams and powerhouse producer Kenya Barris.
The visually-stunning story, which follows an NYC artist as he juggles a budding romance with career ambitions, won a host of awards including Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation at this year’s Emmys.

The special was also accompanied by an album of the same name which boasted appearances from 2 Chainz, Ty Dolla $ign, Juicy J and others.
Cudi’s as-yet-untitled comedy show isn’t the only Hollywood project he has in the works. Earlier this year, the Cleveland native shared his excitement for two other films he’s involved in.

First reported by Deadline last year, Hell Naw is described as an “action horror-comedy” that is set during Paris Fashion Week and will feature zombies.
In addition to Kenny and Keith Lucas (Judas and the Black Messiah) writing the script, the film boasts Euphoria creator Sam Levinson as producer alongside Cudi through his Mad Solar production company.

I am telling the world now, this film will fuck you up in all the best ways,” Mr. Rager said of Hell Naw. “I have been a horror fan since I was 7 years old. The first horror movies I ever saw were Night of the Living Dead and Evil Dead. And from that point on, I was hooked on the feeling of being frightened.
“I’ve been wanting to get into this world creating my own stories for a long time, and now, and after years of working it out in my head, it’s finally happening. Sam, The Lucas Brothers and myself have really crafted a tale we feel everyone who’s a fan of horror and comedy will enjoy.”
