Kevin Hart was involved in a serious car accident last month that could’ve taken his life. The celebrated comedic actor required immediate surgery and weeks of physical therapy to get back on his feet.
After nearly two months of social media silence, Hart has shared an emotional video about his recovery journey and revealed what the experience has taught him. The clip is peppered with footage of the car wreck and a noticeably determined Hart in the hospital.
“Basically what you realize is that you’re not in control,” he says. “No matter how much you think you’re in control, you’re not in control. At the end of the day, it can all be over. When God talks, you gotta listen. I swear, life is funny. Because some of the craziest things that happen to you end up being the things that you needed the most.
“And in this case, I honestly feel like God basically told me to sit down. When you’re moving too fast and doing too much, sometimes you can’t see the things that you’re meant to see. But after my accident I see things differently, I see life from a whole new perspective. My appreciation for life is through the roof …
As the video comes to an end, Hart thanks his friends, family and fans for supporting him throughout the process. He ends with perhaps the most important lesson he’s learned as a result of the accident, “Don’t take today for granted because tomorrow is not promised.”
Hart’s vintage Plymouth Barracuda, which was being driven by Jared Black at the time, careened off of Los Angeles’ Mulholland Highway in the early morning hours of September 1. Both Black and his fiancée had to be cut out of the car by emergency responders.
Although Hart’s bodyguard initially took him home, they quickly realized he was in need of serious medical attention. Doctors successfully completed back surgery on Hart later that night.
After he was released from in-patient rehab, Hart said he was simply happy to be alive, a sentiment that evidently still rings true today.
I just about died a couple months ago. Car hit me going about 60mph right on my door on the driver side. Have no clue how I made it out of this one. Second time I beat death. Back in 2011 I got shot and the bullet bounced around my insides and hit my Aorta. 25 surgeries after that and I was decent but I know how he feels about the recovery. I personally had to learn how to walk again eat go to the bathroom by myself. It’s brutal but I am alive today because them 2 situations I found myself in was not apart of gods plan for me. 2 years after I got out of the hospital I was honored to become a father and that right there is what keeps me going and knowing why I was saved back in 2011 and in 2019. Both situations I thought I was dieing but I am still here and going strong. Non believers of the man upstairs just think about what I pushed through and ask yourself would it be possible if there was no god or are you one of them oh he just got lucky people. With all my heart I believe more now than ever before. Especially after my car accident.
sounds like modern SCIENCE did wonders for you. wonder why the man upstairs let those things happen to you in the first place..
Congratulations on surviving not one but two near fatal incidents. Congratulations, even more, on becoming a Dad.
Respectfully, acknowledge that 100 years ago, you would have died, not because God was absent, but MEDICAL SCIENCE was not as advanced. You had to re-learn motor and bodily functions, after MEDICAL SCIENCE gave you a fighting chance.
As Galileo said, “I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.”
However, that is your opinion, as this is mine.
Not to take away from the accident in any way but this was an incredibly well thought out rollout. Publicity spin can work wonders, good or bad.
What the hell? God? God talks? GOD!?? Are you fucking kidding? How dumb are you? JESUS FUCKING CHRIST.
Feel better tho. But jeeez.
You thankful for God? God letting you go thru that shit? Guess you got a little brain damage in that crash huh.
all the money and fame cant save you, gotta slow down and realize God owns it all
All this God talk from a man who cheated on his wife and showed zero humility when he got caught.. I love when shitty people use the almighty to muster up sympathy for their shady ass lives.
