Kendrick Lamar was nominated for seven Grammy Awards this year for work stemming from his critically acclaimed album DAMN., which HipHopDX also named Rap Album of the Year as part of our annual Year-End Awards.
During the ceremony for The 60th Annual Grammy Awards, which was held on Sunday (January 28) at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, the Compton Hip Hop luminary not only opened the event with a chilling medley featuring U2 and Dave Chappelle but he also took home multiple awards.
Before the night was over, K. Dot walked away with trophies for Best Rap/Sung Performance for “LOYALTY.” featuring Rihanna, Best Rap Performance for “HUMBLE.,” Best Rap Song for “HUMBLE.,” Best Video for, once again, “HUMBLE.” and Best Rap Album for, of course, DAMN.
The celebrated DAMN. project was certified double-platinum last July, just a few months after its initial April 2017 release.

This is ridiculous that k. Lamar won all the awards. I see nothing special about him. There are plenty of albums way better than his record. I don’t watch this garbage on t.v. Lamar did not have the best album of this year or any year. The award shows are completely useless. A tribe called tribe could have won instead of this overrated kid.

It was nothing special. Prehaps it’s better than the rest of the trash. This album doesn’t compare to real hip hop classic albums. Nobody compares this album to the all time great hip hop albums. Your generation isn’t knowledgeable enough for that. Lamar is the best of a weak rap field. How Many gay rappers are going into the hall of fame, zero. Almost every year a new hip hop artists is going into the hall. Rap wasn’t built to last like hip hop. If lamar came out twenty years ago, we would consider him wack.

Tyler should of won with Flower Boy, but best mainstream album goes to k dot
Flower Boy is a great album too I agree but it’s no less mainstream than DAMN. It is just not as good. Simple as that.
I dunno man, I skipped a lot more of DAMN than I did Flower Boy. I personally though Flower Boy flowed better from track to track.
