Kendrick Lamar treated JAY-Z, Beyoncé and others to an intimate performance in Brooklyn, New York on Saturday night (August 6).
Just hours after entertaining a sold-out crowd at the Barclays Center on his Big Steppers Tour, Kendrick took his talents to Dumbo House, a swanky, members-only club overlooking the East River.
There, he hung out with the Carters, as well as his cousin and collaborator Baby Keem, longtime manager Dave Free and pgLang signee Tanna Leone.
Kendrick Lamar also pulled up a chair and graced the mic to deliver an impromptu set alongside a keyboardist and bass player.
A video posted on Free’s Instagram Story captured the Compton native performing “The Heart Part 5” and thanking Hov for letting him borrow his line, “I do this for my culture” — from his 2001 The Blueprint hit “Izzo (H.O.V.A.)” — free of charge.
“Hov, good looking out for clearing that muthafucking line,” K. Dot said while looking in JAY-Z’s direction in the audience. “You ain’t never charged me for no muthafucking line, dawg. I really appreciate that shit.”
Kendrick Lamar also kicked it with JAY-Z and Beyoncé at the latter’s Club Renaissance party in NYC on Friday night (August 5), which celebrated the release of her latest album Renaissance.
Other famous faces on the guest list included Donald Glover, Janelle Monáe, Chloe Bailey, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tyler Perry, Trevor Noah, La La Anthony and Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles.
Questlove, who was also in attendance, gushed over the event on Twitter.
“Don’t even know if I’m allowed to say it but I literally watched an entire club LOSE IT,” he wrote. “Renaissance played from start to finish 3 times. It’s creator more hyped seeing the culmination of ALOT of hard work. I mean maybe I had the Low End Theory memorized by days end. But man.”
He added: “I never seen nothin like this. Like I dunno if I even want her to tour this jawn or throw an immaculate dance a thon in which people will just perform the lp for her.”
Kendrick Lamar’s Big Steppers Tour — promoting his latest album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers — takes over the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York on Sunday night (August 7), before heading southwest to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Tuesday (August 9).
The Pulitzer Prize-winner posted a cluster of photos from the early stages of the tour on Instagram earlier this week, while reflecting on his long-awaited return to the stage.
“ill never forget the process of falling in love with imperfection,” he wrote in part. “the piano. my fans. the stories of reconciliation i hear from penitentiaries to small villages. Some words will find you today. Some will find you in 10. find your children type shit. sitting in the corner like an old book.”
Kendrick Lamar the most over rated rapper ever. His voice is the most annoying in the game ever.
Facts, he’s a corny forced reddit rapper
Shut up, Jimmy
Bro, Drake literally exists ?
Says the broke and bitter nobody that has not and will never achieve anything in life. Shut the fuck up before I dog walk you, ugly pig
Kendrick fans have become worse than Stans. They always jump to random assumptions attacks on someone’s personal life for critzing their favorite rapper. “You are broke and a loser who will never achieve anything in life”. How the hell would you know anything about someone from a comment? You’re just butthurt that not everyone likes your favorite rapper that you dick ride.
Keep that same energy when someone criticizes Eminem
Ok Stan fuck Eminem
I think eminem has suckked since 2005 or so lol. Why do you think I compared kendrick fans to stans? They’re all annoying and butthurt that the majority of people don’t like how they sound compared to their first few albums. Both sound horrible now.
Who the fuck is you? And if you think Kendrick sounds horrible, go clean your ears then
Yeah, not being a fan of someone is ok. But this comment section is filled with senseless and airheaded trolls that likes to type garbage and hate on someone that’s more successful. And plus who is the majority? Speak for yourself, buddy. Maybe Eminem, but don’t even compare him to Kendrick knowing he has dropped better albums than Em so far
Kendrick’s dreads and “annoying voice”>>> your entire family lineage
here is a bit of intimacy… fuck you all.
I have to congratulate jay z on using bots to heavily inflate the streaming numbers for break my soul. That song wouldn’t have cracked the top 40 hot 100 without it
Break my soul has been in the top 40 since it dropped. The song is especially doing well over in Europe + dance music revival trend explains its success. If you want to see bot numbers look at kpop bands and observe the jumps they take
I wonder who’s the dumb motherfucker who told him that Gollum voice is a good idea to put in his music?? My ears bleed everytime I hear that shit
TF is fool talking about
Seems Kendrick only be doing intimate sets for billionaires now huh…Sad
