Kendrick Lamar Insists You Listen To XXXTENTACION’s “17”

XXXTENTACION released his new album 17 on Friday (August 25) and evidently Kendrick Lamar is a fan. The Compton super rapper took to Twitter late Friday night to not only plug the album’s iTunes link, but also confess he was on his fifth listen.

“listen to this album if you feel anything. raw thoughts,” Kendrick captioned the photo. “Listen to songs from the album 16, including ‘The Explanation’, ‘Jocelyn Flores’, ‘Depression & Obsession’, and many more. Buy.”

In all fairness, the Broward County, Florida rapper’s new project is a mere 22 minutes long, so five listens adds up to just over an hour-and-a-half of listening time, but the co-sign from TDE’s biggest success story is something to celebrate.

X retweeted both of K. Dot’s tweets, but otherwise remained silent on the matter.

Earlier this week, X made headlines when he posted a clip of his forthcoming video that involved a hanging. Many of his fans jumped to the conclusion it was X committing suicide. He quickly took to Instagram to debunk that theory with a video.

“If you thought I would ‘pretend’ to kill myself for a publicity stunt you’re fucking stupid,” he captioned the video.

17 revolves around themes of depression and various mental health disorders.

    1. I never get all these super talented people cosignin the most irrelevant and wack artists ever. Kendrick is not at his first time. I remember him praising Lil Wayne and Lil B before by saying how much he was looking up to them and how inspirational they were. I don’t get where these kind of support come from but it sounds like as soon as you step a foot in this industry you’re somehow forced to play the “politically correct” card even if it makes no sense. GTFOH

      1. Kendrick is really a Wayne fan. He even post 90’s Wayne songs from Hot Boys and 500 Degreez era on his Instagram. Hate it or not Wayne is the legend. I wouldn’t say nothing for Lil B though.

    2. To be fair xxxtentacion did his own on this one. He didn’t conform to what the industry plays. 17 is an interesting album worth the listening. It sounds pretty good actually. But it’s not hip-hop. It sounds like folk music. If you allow yourself to listen to other genres of music, you’d probably gonna like it. Otherwise, there is nothing else to see.

    3. Of course Kenwack would co-sign one of the 6ix God’s enemies. Fuck outta here with that shit! Real ting ya kno? #DrakeIsLoveDrakeIsLife

      1. greatest rapper alive cosigns fake drake’s enemy…haha…gtfoh with that fake white boy JA Fakin real thing ya know! #DRAKEISFAKEDRAKEISWACK

    4. Fuck no. This little drug addict sweats Drake and beats pregnant women. No co-sign can justify this loser’s existence. DX is definitely getting paid to push this trash.

    5. Kendrick and xxx are trash geek rappers anyways kendrick lucky drake co signed him or he would have been homeless still…

      1. Lmao, you calling Kendrick a geek rapper. He’s 1 of the best rapper alive. If anyone is corny, Drake definitely takes the cake his music is corny af and he has a whole production team making all the music for him.

        1. He is a geek rapper and his fans are some internet hipsters who dont know hip hop enough to put him in the #1 spot when legends he looks up to still alive and rappin. He aint even in the top 50 in that best rappers alive list.

          1. Wow. So KRS One, Nas, Jay Z, Dre, MF, Rakim, Eminem all say he is top 5 dead or alive and the best right now. Period. Drake is not mentioned by anyone. Total internet troll.

    6. “if you thought I would “pretend” to kill myself for a publicity stunt you’re fucking stupid” Then why would you make it look like that for publicity?

    7. Fuck kendrick. Bone dropped heat this year without the love of any motherfucker but they supposedly respect bone

    8. The album isn’t Hip-Hop but it is actually very good. Extremely depressing and dark. He actually start off earning people about the albums comtent. I always thought dude sucked and was a talentless hack. Drake did steal his flow, and I hate Drake. Here he did do something completely different and it work. I’m sure Kendrick consigned it because of the originality of the album. Definitely not for strict Hip-Hoo heads, but surprisingly good music. After hearing this I’ll give him a chance.

      1. Bruh that wasn’t Xs flow. I’m not a Drake fan but I do know that flow has been around like the past 2 years. Uzi uses the same flow like every other song.
