Kelly Rowland has voiced her support for JAY-Z following his comments about Beyoncé being snubbed by the Grammy Awards.
In one of the most reshared moments from the Grammys on Sunday (February 4), Hov took a moment to speak up for Bey in light of the fact that she has never been awarded Album of the Year, despite tying him for the most Grammy nominations at 88 a piece.

Former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland was full of praise for JAY-Z’s speech as she attended the premiere of Bob Marley: One Love in Los Angeles on Tuesday (February 6).
“Shawn Carter is one of the greatest men I know and his words ring so loud to me,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I couldn’t be more proud of him.”

She continued: “I’m just really happy for a lot of things that he said. I think that he made a lot of artists feel very seen and very heard in those minutes that he took on stage.”
Rowland went on to credit Beyoncé for being a trendsetter and claimed her albums speak for themselves.

“I feel like she is an icon… and that’s for a reason – it’s because she starts trends,” she said. “She is innovative, her thoughts are big and bright and she just jumps for them and does it. I think that her albums are a reflection of that, and it should be really celebrated in that way.
“I’m not saying that because it’s my sister, I’m saying it because it’s the truth. I’ve seen the blood, sweat and tears that she puts into these projects, and her thoughts and her heart and her passion and her soul.”

JAY-Z defended Beyoncé while accepting the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.
“Obviously it’s subjective because, you know, it’s music and it’s opinion-based, but some things…,” he said, standing alongside their 12-year-old daughter Blue Ivy. “I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won Album of the Year!”

He continued: “So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that. The most Grammys, never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work.
“We want y’all to get it rightWe love y’all, we love y’all, we just want y’all to get it right. At least get it close to right.”
JAY-Z previously took shots at the Grammys last year for overlooking his own album 4:44 in 2018.
“In that moment, I was like, ‘They missed the opportunity,’ because people emulate success,” he told TIDAL. “In that moment, that album, 4:44, was a moment for us to say, ‘Hip Hop is viewed as a young man’s sport. Now here is this album that could take us into the next sphere.’”
