Kanye West has added another dimension to the ongoing feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar by entering the race as a third-party candidate.
Earlier this week, Ye shared his 2016 collaboration with K.Dot, “No More Parties In LA,” on social media, leading many to believe that he was siding with the latter in the aforementioned beef. It now turns out that the only team the Chicago native plays for is his own as he refuses to step down from his captaincy in any way, shape or form.
On Thursday (March 28), Yeezy shared a since-deleted note on Instagram and took sole credit for a number of notable accomplishments over the past few years, all of which involved collaborating with other creatives.
“EVERYONE KNOWS I WASHED KENDRICK ON NO MORE PARTIES IN LA,” he began. “EVERYONE KNOWS I WASHED DRAKE AT THE FREE HOOVER CONCERT/ EVERYONE KNOWS I BROUGHT ADIDAS INTO THIS CULTURE AND, I TOOK THEM OUT/ EVERYONE KNOWS LOTTA DEMNA VIRGIL JERRY KIM ALL WORKED FOR ME.”
He continued: “I MADE YEEZUS DARK FANTASY PABLO/ GRADUATION THRONE 808S/ I MADE RUNAWAY DEVIL IN A NEW DRESS FATHER STRETCH/ I AM THE ONLY PERSON TO COME BACK TO NUMBER ONE AFTER CANCELLATION.
“THERE IS ONLY ONE GOAT/ I STAND BY ME/ MY FRIENDS CALL ME YE :)”
Future and Metro Boomin‘s joint new album We Don’t Trust You includes a song called “Like That” with a surprise feature from Kendrick Lamar. On it, the former TDE rapper takes a number of shots at his peers, kicking things off with a mention of the 6 God and J. Cole‘s No. 1 single “First Person Shooter” with accusations of “sneak dissin.'”
“Yeah, get up with me/ Fuck sneak dissin’, first person shooter/ I hope they came with three switches,” he raps on the explosive joint.
The Compton native then directly references “the big three” (a term commonly used in reference to him, Drizzy and Cole being modern Hip Hop’s primary stakeholders), claiming he’s the only one atop the rap chain.
The Dreamville boss previously mentioned Kendrick’s name and “the big three” on “First Person Shooter” in October, but took the crown by comparing himself to Muhammad Ali with the bars: “Love when they argue the hardest MC/ Is it K-Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me?/ We the big three like we started a league, but right now, I feel like Muhammad Ali.”
The “King Kunta” MC in turn compares himself to Prince and the others to Michael Jackson, suggesting his work will outlive that of his contemporaries.
“Think I won’t drop the location? I still got PTSD/ Muthafuck the big three, n-gga, it’s just big me/ N-gga, bum, what? I’m really like that/ And your best work is a light pack/ N-gga, Prince outlived Mike Jack’,” he spits.
The 26-year-old closes out the verse by referencing the Canadian superstar’s 2023 album For All the Dogs and Stephen King’s 1983 novel Pet Sematary with: “N-gga, bum, ‘fore all your dogs gettin’ buried/ That’s a K with all these nines, he gon’ see Pet Sematary.“
Ye claiming he brought Adidas to the culture is the biggest lie I ever heard. Damn. The disrespect is insane with this guy.
Omg tell Drake give me my money 520 milli rocn
Shit he brought adidas out lmao. So what did run DMC and the old heads wear
Omg tell Drake give me my money 520 milli rocn.
There is literally a song called “my adidas” by RUN DMC.
Lol at this garbage ass dude washing anyone.
Laughed as soon as I read that nonsense. Run DMC brought Adidas into the culture but I guess it’s hard for him to see past his self delusion and ego. Also Life of Pablo is one of the wackest albums I’ve ever heard, he washed himself with that garbage. I give him credit for everything up to and including Twisted Fantasy, every solo outing after that has been the ramblings of a self obsessed egomaniac.
True, before that, we ain’t wear shoes. We was on are feet! God bless dem boys for bringin us dem shoes.
Love him or hate him he was the very first sneaker to overtake Jordan in sales in well over 20 years. People talking about Run-DMC as if that wasn’t 40 years ago
Kendrick played himself on this one. He’s not gaining anything from this. Can’t tell me he felt dissed in a song that dropped last year and was living with it all this while waiting for some lame artist to feature him for him to address it
He probably went to this site, saw the 10 millionth drake article and got annoyed enough to spit a verse lol
The levels of insecurity in this man are out of this world.
Kanye says he brought Adidas to this culture and I call BS. Run DMC were the ones to put Acids on the map. Kanye, Ye, Yeezus, whatever your name is you need to stop. In all actuality he needs to just go away.
