Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign have disappointed fans again as Vultures 2 has failed to land on its expected release date.
Kanye said during his recent interview with Justin Laboy that his second collaborative project with Ty would be released on May 3, but the album has not yet hit streaming services.
After the midnight deadline came and went without Vultures 2, fans flocked to social media to express their disappointment, with one writing: “why I always believe every time he give us a date.”
Others were already skeptical given the lack of a rollout and Kanye’s history of delaying albums: “Are we gonna pretend to be surprised and disappointed again? He’s been doing this same shit since Yandhi lol.”
Someone else saw the funny side of it, joking: “he didn’t say what year.”
The Chicago rap icon initially revealed the May 3 release date in an Instagram DM to who he thought was Baby Keem.
When asked by the user about the status of Vultures 2, Ye responded: “We in the lab now with it. Gonna release in May. May 3rd. When can we go in. Should we do Praise God 2mrw.”
After realizing he was actually messaging a fan account dedicated to the Melodic Blue rapper, he wrote: “Bro. I thought you were Keem.”
Vultures 2 was originally supposed to drop on March 8, roughly a month after the release of the first installment in the trilogy. Kanye didn’t offer an explanation for the delay beyond telling a fan account “we in the lab.”
He previously hinted that the album would not be released on streaming platforms and would instead be sold directly to fans for $20.
Messaging a fan account on Instagram, he said: “We sell albums on Yeezy.com. I got 20 million instagram followers. When 5% of my followers buy an album [t]hat’s 1 million albums sold[.] That’s 300k more than the biggest album last year.
“We sold 1 million items on Yeezy.com on Super Bowl Sunday so we know it’s possible. How do you feel about us not streaming and only selling the album digitally[?]”
He added: “When we do that we won’t have the streaming companies in control of the artist anymore.”
Kanye has released albums in unorthodox fashion before, making Donda 2 only available through his Stem Player device.
Kanye fans get what they f***in’ deserve!!!
So did your mom when my homie and I gave it to her
@EatAFatOne Butthurt Kanye fan lol
They can shelve this album, and no one would care. Same thing happens with every album he dropped after Dark Fantasy…the fan base will pretend to like it for a weekend, then you’ll never hear about it again.
Yeezus:
“why I always believe every time he give us a date.” Because you are waiting on wack Kanye albums instead of learning how to form a correct sentence. #bozo
Keeps the fans anticipating, that’s good strategy. The album from metro and future sounded almost like this album and kind of had the same cover…interesting…..but yeezy & Ty were better IMO
Didn’t realize it was supposed to come until I saw this story. Damm I guess I really didn’t care. Carry on!!!
