Wayne also posted a screenshot of the video call on his social media and intimated that it had been an emotional chat with the oft controversial pop star.

Weezy wrote: “It’s a painful walk but we got each other [love heart emoji].”

Lil Wayne finally released Tha Carter VI today, five years after his last solo album and while it does not feature Bieber, it does feature some unusual guest artists, mainly U2 lead singer, Bono.

On the track, Wayne references his status as an elder statesman in Hip Hop, rapping: “I ain’t getting younger, but I’m getting better / No time to waste that’s another man’s treasure / They say every dog has hit day.”

While Bono, who has previously worked with Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West, sings: “The time of our lives / The time of our youth / We bow down to beauty and truth / These are the days.”

The 19 track project features an array of guest artists including 2 ChainzKodak BlackMachine Gun Kelly and Big Sean.

Tha Carter VI also features more eclectic artists such as opera singer Andrea Bocelli, country star Jelly Roll and Fugees legend Wyclef Jean.

Fans were hoping that Wayne was going to reunite with Drake and Nicki Minaj on the project but no song featuring the Young Money trio made the album.

Weezy recently unveiled a new roster of Young Money talent as he looks to push the label into a modern new era.

In a new episode of his Young Money radio show on Apple Music, Wayne introduced and re-introduced all of his new artists, which also includes Jay Jones, Allan Cubas, Domiio, Poppy and Lucifena.

A trio of artists who have been with the label for years – Lil Twist, Cory Gunz and Euro – also remain with the storied label that was once home to Drake and Minaj as well as Tyga, DJ Khaled and Kidd Kidd.

None of the current crop of Young Money artists feature on Tha Carter VI.

    1. Wayne is making world music posing as hip hop now. Weird choices for all these rappers these days. Snoop had a similar vibe on his last album before the one he just put out. They stray further and further away from the soul roots that made the genre popular for that world sound, and it’s why the genre is in its death throws, but I guess you don’t really have real music to draw from anymore with how bad R&B has been since the early 2000s, and most of these rappers and singers are music illiterates.

    2. He is but UMG ruined the album. T hey took Ye off the production and removed features like Nicki (wifey) and Drake. Mannie only produced 1 song? Why didn’t he produce the whole album? UMG wants to drag Wayne. They want to push Kendrick and hurt Wayne something Jay Z also wants. Its weird this album had no singles or promotion until right until release. Also they have their influencers attacking Wayne and slandering him people like NoLifeShaq, ScruFsce who’s inspiration Wyclef produced on this, and so many others. Meanwhile glaze on Kendrick and Eminem the UMG poster boys. Drake needs to win the lawsuit. UMG let Wayne go Free Wayne its clear people dont have his best interest I know he didn’t sell his masters other people on his team had to have screwd him in that deal. Ye just buy him out.

      1. Or… Wayne has been garbage since drugs that HE chose to do, destroyed his ability. This is wayne failing from no longer being any good, not a record label or any other artist. Stop the excuses.

      2. Bro really wrote an essay defending Wayne and saying Kanye would’ve helped him? What a f0g 🤣😭

    3. Lil Wayne is a dope head. He is far removed from being a GOAT. He is a good punch line rapper with no substance in his rap songs. No replay value.
