Jon Connor Returns With ‘SOS’ Album Following Stint On Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment

Jon Connor’s departure from Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment has allowed him to finally release a new album. The SOS LP marks his first project since 2013’s Unconscious State, which he dropped prior to signing with Dre.

The Michigan-bred rapper’s long overdue album is mostly self-produced. Guests include DJ Paul, Locksmith, Jarren Benton, Kelly Price, Termanology, Daylyt, A-F-R-O and Dizzy Wright, among others.

    1. Same old story with Aftemath artists, 5 years on the shelf either cuz of Dre or label politics. Back when he signed with Aftermath Spotify and youtube weren’t popping like they are now. No need for a major label and the bullshit, stay indy Jon. Pump that music and hit the road when the country opens up.

    2. man dre has done a lot of artists dirty….as talented as he is, he has definitely left a lot of artists out to dry

    3. Not surprised he left Aftermath. Dre has a terrible track record with his artists. As for the album, it’s not bad, but on some tracks, I see that he tries to employ some trap beats and the same tired cadences which takes away from the listening experience imo. But overall, not a bad listen.

    4. Such a shame. Some of these rappers could get a little production from Dre and Go on to have great careers, but all too often they get put on a shelf and have their buzz completely killed. I feel it’s hard to come back from that. That initial buzz has to be ignited and kept alight

    5. Hope ppl still remember him…..I was excited to hear he signed with Dre, hoping Dre would start releasing more backpack type rappers.
And when he appeared on the Straight Outta Compton OST, I thought that would be his introduction to a lager audience.

    6. Disappointing album. Jon Connor went from sounding great over beats that sounded like old-school Jayz or Kanye style beats, to newschool beats… His flow is just super fast nowadays… I love his sound on songs like “No thrillz” or his old albums. I honestly don’t care for much of this at all, and that’s likely why Dre dropped him… If this is the best he could come up with, after dropping so much classic, amazing material, then I agree with Dres decision. If u don’t know what I mean, go listen to Unconscious State. That albums destroys this new one, sadly.
