Joe Budden Says Meek Mill’s ‘Dreams & Nightmares’ Is Best Rap Intro Of All Time

Joe Budden has made great use of his podcast platform with all his unfiltered takes on what’s shaking in the culture and his latest opinion is giving Meek Mill a lot of credit.

In one of the most recent episodes of The Joe Budden Podcast, the former rapper crowned Meek Mill’s “Dreams and Nightmares” opener off his debut album of the same name the best rap intro of all time. The song has been heard in clubs all over the country since the Philly native dropped it in 2012.

“Meek for me has the best rap song of the last decade,” Budden said about the fiery track. “I don’t think it’s blasphemous to say. It can be said. It’s safe to say.”

The song quickly became a breakaway hit and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It was produced by The Beat Bully and became so popular that the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles used it as their anthem throughout their improbable Super Bowl LII championship run. After their win, NBCSports Philadelphia called the song “the greatest Philly sports anthem ever.”

This wasn’t the only claim Joe Budden has made that has people talking. On another episode, the podcast host said that he thinks the New York drill sound has a few more years left before its flame is extinguished.

Joe Budden Thinks New York Drill Music Won't Be Popular In A Few Years

“You drill n-ggas got the shortest of windows,” Budden said. “That shit bout over. Y’all can go keep dancing with Eric Adams if you want. It’s over, buddy, in the next five, six years.”

He continued, “The writing is on the wall, and that’s government-issued writing. That’s not Joe. That’s government-issued writing. Don’t start hitting me, mad at me. I’m just telling you what I’m looking at.”

    1. DMX’s intro to its dark and hell is hot and Lil Wayne’s Intro to Tha Carter 2 are too ferocious to top imo. Legendary intro nonetheless

    2. “Start of Your Ending” off the Infamous is the best entrance to a classic album in my opinion. That dreary beat with Havoc and Prodigy’s hardcore verses, amazing. Let’s you know out the gate what to expect with the rest of the album.

    3. Ambitionz Az a Ridah, Stillmatic Intro, Straight Outta Compton, It’s Dark and Hell is Hot intro, Over My Dead Body. That song goes hard though.

    4. Damn di you guys ever read before y’all post. He said best intro in the past decade. Y’all posting up songs that came out 25 years ago.

    5. Meeks intro is really good, so was most of Ludacrises intro fast spits (best was Southern Fried Intro from 03), and of course DMX very first intro

    6. Honestly, Dreams and Nightmares is the best rap intro of all time even for me. The song is just outstanding, the energy the flow the lyrics. Only haters will not acknowledge that.

    7. Ice Cube Intro’s From Both “AmeriKKKas Most Wanted” & “Death Certificate” Blows That Shit Out The Water… Stop It Joe… This Is Why Making These Type Of Assertions In The Grand SCHEME Of Things Is Just Too Loaded… Because There Are Thousands Of Rap Albums In Existence…. C’Mon Joe…

    8. “Past decade”

      A Decade is 10 years

Which would be songs after 2012.

It’s clear ppl don’t or can’t read. Comprehension is Key. ??️

      1. Blame the headline for throwing “all time” in there, as they know most of us will flock straight to the comments after reading that.

    9. That intro and ima boss solidified em. To this day i workout and do extra sets to both. Big up. Those records are actual hits idk any hits these days . Just remakes
