Jim Jones is keeping his foot on Pusha T and No Malice’s necks, throwing more jabs at the Clipse duo while discussing his brewing rivalry with the former with Joe Budden.
The Dipset rapper called into the latest episode of The Joe Budden Podcast to chew over his and Pusha’s recent lyrical exchange, which he said is “all fun and games” and “a true display of wordery.”
However, that didn’t stop him from unloading more clips at the brothers Thornton, branding Pusha T “a worker” and No Malice “a preacher who works at Walmart.”
“Who’s gonna spin the block for him? Is Pharrell gonna spin the block for him? Is Malice gonna say a prayer? Who’s gonna spin the block for him?” Capo asked. “I’m talking about musically, too. I ain’t talking about thug shit — we already know I can do that. Who he got that’s gon’ spin the block for him? Malice is a preacher who works at Walmart.”
Addressing Push directly, he added: “That n-gga’s a worker. He’s still not a boss. He still has to answer to everybody in his circle.”
Jones went on to clarify that their conflict is “a rap battle” not “rap beef,” adding: “This is about pure music and styling, and he don’t got it. You always wanted to be a New York n-gga; you from VA, the suburbs.”
The pair’s war of words ignited last week when Pusha T appeared to take aim at Jim Jones in an unreleased Clipse song debuted at Pharrell’s first Louis Vuitton show during Paris Fashion Week.
While he didn’t name names, the former G.O.O.D. Music President accused his foe of “chasing a feature out of your element” — seemingly referencing Jones’ love for his bitter rival Drake — while dropping more clues with references to repossession, reality TV and allegedly fake jewelry.
In response, the “We Fly High” hitmaker dismissed Pusha T’s bars as “not a Top 50 verse” before jacking his beat and firing back with “Summer Collection.”
“My Name Is My Name but they ain’t screaming that/ They talking about the Wrath of Caine but we ain’t seen it yet/ We got the switches on that bitches, your whole team get wet/ Let me chill ’cause I don’t wanna get my team upset,” he warned in his rebuttal.
“The only beef you know, n-gga, is Arby’s or the Big Mac/ We don’t drive through, we drive by in the car with the big MAC/ The last shit you dropped, that shit was garbage, take that shit back/ Plus you got your brother rappin’, what you tryna bring the Clipse back?/ Talk about your brother, what happened to that boy?/ He’s looking like they’ve been selling crack to that boy.”
Months earlier, Jim Jones made disparaging comments about Pusha T being ranked No. 29 on Billboard‘s Top 50 Greatest Rappers of All Time list, claiming the Grammy-nominated lyricist doesn’t deserve such a plaudit.
“What has he done that puts him in the greatest rappers of all time besides talk about coke that he probably didn’t get himself?” Jones asked during an appearance on the Rap Caviar Podcast in April.
“He’s nice as shit. He could rap his ass off, but what has he done? Nobody has dressed like him. Nobody wants to be like Pusha T. I don’t remember nothing … I don’t know too many n-ggas in this game that was leaning towards being like Pusha T.”
Capo went as far as to say that he’d “easily” put Big Sean and Cam’ron over King Push. “You go in these clubs, I don’t know no records they play in the club with Pusha T,” he added. “They don’t play his shit outside.”
I gotta say I tired of this rap battle already. Jim just drop the songs. You got cub hits right well let’s hear them. If not then cool let’s close this chapter already
Oh man. I’m not enjoying this one. I feel like Push has been trying to stay respectful to the OG but this guy just keeps going.
Jimmy is nice with his taunts
counterpoint: It’s sad that a grey haired rapper who was barely ever relevant is clutching onto any sort of clout he can muster up
Lets be 100% with ourselves… Jones is hating and Push can outrap boi any day of the week over a 100 year period. Its not even a fair battle.
Seems like it
All Push has to reply is the incident when Lil Cease & Junior Mafia. Beat Jomo’s ass at the Rucker. Or when he was crying over Chrissy on Love & Hip Hop or Funk Flex about his fallout with Cam
Pusha T is very wealthy and a busy man. There really is no need for the Clipse to respond at this moment. They will respond but do so on their time. Jim ain’t gonna get his name popping off of them lol.
Push about to put Jim to sleep
Shut up Jim!! For the love of God SHUT UP BEFORE PUSH HAS ANOTHER SURGICAL SUMMER!!
“Jim Jones is keeping his foot on Pusha T and No Malice’s necks,”
Uhhh, excuse me? Lmao
Lmao he need to shit talk this much cuz when Push returns it gonna be that TKO for Jim
Jones simply isn’t a worthy opponent. He’s lucky he’s gotten the attention he’s gotten
Obviously Jim can’t fuck with Push BUT that doesn’t change the fact the he’s the most improved rapper in history. El Capo got some joints on there…but he better chill before he gets smoked n emotional
