Jeezy Offers His Thoughts On Gun Laws

Atlanta, Georgia rapper Jeezy recently caught up with CNN to discuss his thoughts on both gun and drug laws.

After sharing his belief that “all lives matter,” Jeezy went on to explain that it’s the people with guns, people he says sometimes have emotional or mental issues, that are more so the problem than the guns themselves.

He also suggested that stricter gun laws, similar to ones in Florida, might help curve the problem.

“From my eyes, all lives matter,” Jeezy said. “Especially black ones, but all lives matter. So, a lot of the problems we have today in our communities is about that particular issue, human lives. It’s a thin line between knowing who’s with you and who’s going to hurt you…Guns have always been a part of my upbringing. Whether it was just your uncle’s hunting rifle or your cousin’s military issue weapon. Or the police having guns…It’s not the guns. It’s the people who have the guns. It’s the people who have emotional and mental problems that are going out here, reacting with firearms and taking lives without thinking about it. Of course, it should be certain laws or certain ways. I think in Florida it’s 10, 20, life. That scared me. Ain’t no way around that. So, maybe that’s something we need to put out everywhere.”

The Southern wordsmith later expressed his confusion at the fact that someone can be locked up for selling marijuana, while there are those who are allowed to use the drug for medical reasons.

“You have to understand, in a country like America, people—we’re born entrepreneurs, so we figure out ways to make money,” he said. “I’m taking care of my kids. I’m not hurting anyone selling a little pot. That’s what happens in the neighborhoods, so to see it legalized in certain states is even crazier. Because a lot of my friends are incarcerated for marijuana and it’s legal…How you put somebody in prison, but then at the same time you let people use it for medical reasons? It’s confusing.”

    1. Agreed Mental Health a bigger issue in this country but of course America thinks building more jails is the solution or taking away more human rights. Crazy!!!

      1. it’s not about the solution it’s all about the profit….prisons are built to modern day enslave blacks which inturn puts money into the pockets of multi millionaire white owned corporations who own the penatentaries and benifit from the free labor etc

    2. The problem is illegal guns. People purchase guns from states with relaxed guns and sell them to criminals in states with tough gun laws.

    3. America has an identity crisis. The heroes in America have always been gun wielding cowboys and mercenaries. We stole the land from the native Americans with guns. We grow up with toy guns. We play video games that are full of guns. The music we listen to is full of gun references, and not just rap music, but also country music and rock music. Then they act like it’s a mystery as to why motherfuckers are so enamored with guns. We just need to own the fact that we are a violent fuckin’ country. Violence turns us on. It’s going to take generations to undo it. America can’t look itself in the mirror. All we care about is money, sex, guns, and drugs, but all you hear is holier-than-thou motherfuckers on the news bemoaning all these things, when they know god damn well they have a library full of violent movies that they watch with their mistress while they drink and pop pills. We can’t move forward until we accept who we are as a country. Until we stop promoting guns and glorifying guns on every TV show, movie, song, and video game, it’s not gonna stop. They hide behind the freedom of speech bullshit, acting like they can’t control what’s on television. Why not? They control everything else. Why can’t they stop showing so much violent shit on TV? oohhh, that’s right, they WANT us to shoot each other. There are dozens of other countries, every bit as wealthy and civilized as the U.S., if not more, that don’t have nearly the gun violence we have. Why? Because in those countries violence is not shoved down their throat at every turn from the day they’re born. Make no mistake. America wants us to be violent, so they can convince us that we need protection from ourselves and we’ll relinquish all our rights to the government. Martial law is coming very soon. Chicago will probably be the first martial law project.

    4. Any city or state that have strict gun laws always have tgethe most murders. This is because the shooter knows that others are not carrying guns to defend themselves. The USA can enact all the gun laws they want, but a relentless individual will always find a way to get a gun.

      1. Not true…show me the stats. Most people that own guns legally do not have a permit to carry them. So, they can defend his themselves when their gun is at home.

    5. Wow, jeezy speaks on guns and it turns into a racial thing? At what point do we stop bending every narrative into a racial debate?

    6. okay I’m kinda disappointed that no one has yet to comment about the obvious…the obvious is that yaws hero is a sellout…yaw have been bamboozled hoodwinked…First he says all lives matter….how u gonna say all lives matter when them crackas ain’t saying black lives matter while they choking us out, or slamming our daughters on the pavement…second this fool believes we should have stricter gun laws…this is the same foo who sent his friend on a dummy mission and got him killed by gun use..we need our guns out here where I’m from..stricter gun laws means more brothers in prison..Jeezy is now the white man’s pawn…why the he’ll he on CNN anyway? …he’s a sell out…wake up ppl

    7. Please dog stop talking on guns. Floridas gun laws aren’t that strict…..its simple they are here protect ourselves from the government. The rest people use is cannon fodder
