JAY-Z’s Roc Nation, NFL & Botham Jean’s Family Partner For Awareness-Raising PSA

JAY-Z and Roc Nation continued their social justice initiative with the NFL by releasing a new PSA featuring Botham Jean’s family. Jean was the 26-year-old unarmed black man who was shot and killed in his own home by an off-duty Dallas police officer in 2018.

Jean’s mother Allison, his father Bertrum and his sister Allisa Findley provide narration in the two-minute video. The PSA is the third release of The Responsibility Program, which was launched by Roc Nation and the NFL to raise awareness of racial inequality and police misconduct.

“I’m thankful that the NFL created this PSA to honor Botham’s legacy and deliver an important message about empathy and unity,” Findley said in a press release. “I truly hope that our society learns from Botham’s story – and the stories of many others – so we can make a lasting change in this world. Together, we must all set a better example for future generations and leaders.”

Jean’s killer, former officer Amber Guyger, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his murder. She began serving her sentence last October.

The Responsibility Program previously released PSAs about Danroy “DJ” Henry, a former Pace University football player who was slain by a police officer in 2010, and Antwon Rose II, an unarmed 17-year-old student who met the same fate in 2018.

The initiative also provides education grants to families affected by such deadly examples of injustice.

    1. This is a good thing to do, and I’m sure the rest of the program will continue this kind of work. But, I keep saying Jay didn’t need the NFL for this. He has just as much reach. This entire partnership with the NFL is only helping rehab the NFL’s image after banning kneeling protests and blackballing Kap. I still don’t see why Jay would align himself with them.

      1. Jay Z has a very positive image..the NFL was hurting bc of the Kaepernick fiasco.. and the halftime shows for the Super Bowl sucked too..
Jay is a very wealthy business man so hes on a level playing field with these owners ..they are eager to see change and HOV is def the man to get it done..
Also we all know he will probably running things and prob own an NFL team….He is the G.O.A.T.

      2. Already debunked. NFL already said Jay ain’t getting no team. What he is getting is just what you’re doing now. A discussion. You’re paying more attention now than you would have before. Jay-Z is ALWAYS playing chess.

    2. Jay Z the GOAT. It’s funny to see Jay Z change the world in different ways, while eminem continues to diss people like nick cannon, Ariana grande concert victims, and joe budden. Eminem could do so much for the culture he is appropriating but chooses not to. It just shows there are levels to greatness and what it means to have a legacy. Both Jay Z and Eminem are around the same age but are world’s apart in terms of maturity and philanthropy, which is reflected in their music. Jay chooses to elevate, uplift, and have real conversations, while Em chooses to diss, talk about hurting women, and drug use. ITS JUST DIFFERENT
