During a recent appearance on “Conan,” actor/comedian Jack Black came to the defense of Kanye West. According to Jack Black, he’s grown fed up with everyone being mean to the Chicago lyricist.
For well over a minute, he spoke on why it’s become popular to poke fun of Kanye. He also offered his own theory as to why the rapper has become a target for so many people.
Jack Black explained that it’s Kanye’s narcissism and belief that “he’s the best” that may serve as the reason why some people dislike him.
“It feels like everyone is really mean to Kanye West,” Jack Black said. “And it just—I’m sick of it. I’ve had it up to here. And it’s become like the popular thing to pile on Kanye. ‘Oh, everyone can agree, Kanye’s an asshole. Ha ha ha.’ And I don’t agree. Well, I do agree that he is an asshole. But I don’t agree that he’s not talented. Cause people put those together. And they are wrong. He actually is really talented. Yeezus is like the best album out there…Because he’s a narcissist—I thought a lot about this. It’s the narcissism that kinda ruins the thing for people. They’re like ‘Cause he says he’s the best.’ They’re like ‘F you then. If you say you’re the best then I’m gonna hate your art.’ That’s all I have to say.”
This year alone, Kanye has been criticized by the likes of Lionel Richie, Ted Nugent, and Shirley Manson.
Manson called Kanye “small and petty and spoilt” in an open letter written in response to the rapper suggesting that Beck should have given Beyonce his Grammy award.
